Many Disconnects And Reconnects - No Error Message

Recommended Posts

Hi. I have been having problems staying connected to the game for 2 days now. It disconnects and reconnects me multiple times. This is making the game basically unplayable.

Did a tracert which shows a problem outside my current isp's pathway to get to the game site. They advised me to let the support team from Wurmonline know. Unfortunately I cant find a support ticket system here so Im posting instead :)

One of hops jumps from 169 to 320ms and I was hoping Rolf would see this and be able to look at changing the route to get to the game or something.  The main problem/ bottleneck seems to be from the London site of tinet. Slows down greatly between San Jose and London :(

Dont know if anyone else from Australia or New Zealand area are having this problem too.

My tracert -

Where is the problem in the tracert?

San Jose is west coast US, London is in UK. A 151ms increase doesnt seem THAT big of a deal.

353ms australia->sweden is normal.

When it makes the game unplayable for more than 2 minutes at a time it IS a big deal

But it's not because of a 151ms increase between west coast US and UK.

I'm assuming that traceroute was done when there was no problem, so if you could do one which catches the that would be good.

Or you could use something like WinMTR to traceroute over longer periods of time.

no the traceroute was done this morning after a day and a half of problems which only just started. I normally have very few problems and can play 3 clients at once. And its slower than the one I did 12 hours before that. If its not the problem then what could it be? Any idea - since its a new problem and I havent added anything to my computer or anything. And thanks for the link will try it.

By the way I have window7s 64bit and using 64bit java - tried the java 6 but it didnt help. Been through most of the threads and there is nothing I havent tried that I can see lol

I don't think Wurm can change the route. Really I think it it's up to your ISP to change the route.

Whenever I have problems now I use Astril VPN. Which can change the route for me.

Good luck.

p.s I'm in China

AHhh VPN hmm - thanks :) Never used it before - is it easy to set up? - okay jsut loooked at their site looks easy enough unles you need their routwer to change the route.

And yeah I contacted my isp who say they can do nothing about it , might have to change isp's but dont really want to go to all that trouble if I dont have to.

Very simple, just install it and run it. Astril however is not free. There are many out there. I tried some free ones but they didn't work. Astril is good. Recommended.

(I don't work for Astril)

Yes, but it's probably not a constant problem, hence why multiple traceroutes are needed. WinMTR also measures the packet loss, which is important.

If you haven't done anything there's probably nothing you can do, the problem should hopefully sort out itself.

But you can try using a VPN like the other guy suggested to (hopefully) get a different, better, route to the server.

Thanks for both of your help. Will try WinMTR but when I ping I get no packet loss so not sure anything but either vpn or changing isps will help - already been nearly 2 days with no improvement.
