Posted April 30, 2013 Hey all.I was not long roaming around in Wurm when I decided to go AFK for a few minutes and check out the forums. Not long after I got a client crash with a red box, but didn't copy and paste what was in there as it's happened before.Now everytime I try to run Wurm I get an error window "Unable to Launch the Application."Upon clicking the details it sais:Error: Address family not supported by protocol family: connect.In the Exception box it shows:java.net.SocketException: Address family not supported by protocol family: connectat java.net.DualStackPlainSocketImpl.connect0(Native Method)at java.net.DualStackPlainSocketImpl.socketConnect(Unknown Source)at java.net.AbstractPlainSocketImpl.doConnect(Unknown Source)at java.net.AbstractPlainSocketImpl.connectToAddress(Unknown Source)at java.net.AbstractPlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source)at java.net.PlainSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source)at java.net.SocksSocketImpl.connect(Unknown Source)at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source)at java.net.Socket.connect(Unknown Source)at sun.net.NetworkClient.doConnect(Unknown Source)at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source)at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.openServer(Unknown Source)at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.<init>(Unknown Source)at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source)at sun.net.www.http.HttpClient.New(Unknown Source)at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.getNewHttpClient(Unknown Source)at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.plainConnect(Unknown Source)at sun.net.www.protocol.http.HttpURLConnection.connect(Unknown Source)at com.sun.deploy.net.BasicHttpRequest.doRequest(Unknown Source)at com.sun.deploy.net.BasicHttpRequest.doGetRequestEX(Unknown Source)at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.checkUpdateAvailable(Unknown Source)at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.isUpdateAvailable(Unknown Source)at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.getResource(Unknown Source)at com.sun.deploy.cache.ResourceProviderImpl.getResource(Unknown Source)at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.updateFinalLaunchDesc(Unknown Source)at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source)at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.prepareToLaunch(Unknown Source)at com.sun.javaws.Launcher.launch(Unknown Source)at com.sun.javaws.Main.launchApp(Unknown Source)at com.sun.javaws.Main.continueInSecureThread(Unknown Source)at com.sun.javaws.Main.access$000(Unknown Source)at com.sun.javaws.Main$1.run(Unknown Source)at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)I'm assuming this is to do with Java again and I've tried to re-install it and it hasn't helped. I've also re-downloaded the client, tried the test client but neither are working.Any ideas on what I need to do?
Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) Everytime I got this all I had to do was delete the "wurmclient.jnlp" and download it again but I havent had to do that for awhile now. So its hard for me to really say whats causing it for you. Edited April 30, 2013 by Rasu
Posted April 30, 2013 Ok i've managed to log back on once again. I am going to safely assume that this is down to Java 7 update 21. I'm now running Wurm in Java 6 update 31 as I decided to completely uninstall Java 7 entirely. I think this is something that needs to be looked into though.
