What's Your Setup For Wurm?

Recommended Posts

Decided to start a thread where everyone could post their Desktop/Laptop setup and show what they are running Wurm on.

Please include the technical specifications, photos, OS version and anything else you might find interesting. And just for this thread to be useful for the Wurm staff please tell us what frame rate you are getting in game ;)

Here's my setup:

Windows 7 64-bit

MSI Z77A-GD65 Motherboard

Intel i7 - 3770K 3.5 GHz Processor overclocked and running at 4.2Ghz (4 cores, 8 threads)

Corsair 4x8Gb RAM CL11 1600(OC@1866)

Nvidia GeForce GTX660 Graphics card

Kingston HyperX 120Gb SSD hard drive

Wurm is running at 55-60fps, 3 clients at ~35-40 frames, near strongbox it's a hazard though: 1-10 fps....

Looking good.. too bad at the very moment im to lazy to make proper pictures... heh.

Ah well:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit

Intel Core I7-2600 @ 3.4GHZ (8 CPU), not overclocked

16GB Ram

Nvidia Geforce GTX 660

120GB Samsung SSD / 240GB Vertex 4 SSD (Currently wurm is on the 240GB)

Logitech G19 keyboard.. Razer mamba mouse with the 40E mousepad that comes with it.

Headset.. heheheh.. 30euro one but i like it...

I run 6 clients at once, 2 or 3 fullscreen and the others are windows 800x600.

Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit

Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2GHZ

Asus P5-789BIOVDF02-9754-32 Motherboard (no that isn't it, yes that is me mocking Asus' annoying mobo names :P)

4GB RAM

Nvidia Geforce 550Ti

1TB Samsung HDD + 500GB Seagate HDD

2 x ViewSonic 22 inch monitors

Ozone Radon gaming mouse

Standard-issue Microsoft keyboard

On a whole, nothing special, I would love to upgrade it all - my money goes elsewhere though...

M-Audio AV-40 "Studiophile" Studio Monitors

Behringer Xenyx 802 small-format analogue mixing console

Shure SM58 vocal microphone

+ guitars and other audio toys

:D so although my Wurm is often stuck on lower settings, I can listen to music very loud and with very good clarity. :3

i am at work on an old AMD Athlon 6000+ with a GeForce 8600 GTS and i am getting 20-30fps on one client, I can push two but the second one drops to about 15fps. You can still run wurm on older systems for now it gets worse all the time but i have my old home pc ready for the move to the store once the new one gets to the level i can trust it.

POS HP laptop and a Razer Naga Epic, I don't need a fancy rig but if I don't have a really solid mouse they tend to die pretty fast (really rough on them)

I didn't like the Razer naga with lots of numeric buttons... looked kind of confusing and not that flexible, the 6 buttons work just great with a tool belt :)

Had the Razer Abyssus optical before Naga, can't say it worked well though, was kind of disappointing so I had to change it to a laser one + wireless didn't work well because of interference, had something to do with USB 3.0...

I bought the Naga Epic primarily because I have an atypical mousegrip (by-product of too much time spent playing competitvely FPS games) and so most mice dont fit my hand. And this thing has the best laser I've ever seen, even works super well on reflective surfaces (and pizza box lids, incidentally)

Still lags.

Should have brought a gfx card with those, sometimes ascii doesn't cut it. Isn't that a couple of P690 cases along with all the storage?

Seems having more people/structures in local makes you lag no matter what system you have...

Could this be a JAVA problem or just wurm?

Kinda wish I would of built it with windows 7 but meh to late for that

Most of wurms issues is java and all the load java puts to the CPU

Over all I can run 3 wurm Clint's on max settings without lag beside java acting up " not my hardware "

And still we surf or run other stuff on the 4th screen

Thermaltake BlacX V6

Corsair TX750W PSU

MSI 970A-G46 AM3+

AMD FX8320 @ 3,5GHz

16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600

NVIDIA 560Ti 1GB GDDR5

OCZ Vertex 4 - 128GB SSD (x2)

OCZ Vertex 4 - 256GB SSD

Windows 7 Ultimate - 64 bit

Asus 23" 5ms Widescreen Monitor @ 1920x1080

Vizio 29" HDMI TV @ 1360x768

Logitech G510 Keyboard

Logitceh G9 Mouse

Logitech X-540 5.1 Surround Sound

Steelseries Siberia V2 Headset

Used to have an Asus Crosshair Formula V motherboard, but I fried it by accident. :(

Off the top of my head, I think in all about $1000 bought over time. You can probably find most of the stuff cheaper now, even.

I bought all 3 of the SSDs when they were nearly giving them away on Newegg for Black Friday at almost 3-4GB per $1. :D

I may upgrade the GPU with either buying a second 560, or buy a 680.

Nice setup. If I were you I'd get a 680 over two 560ti's. I'm planning on upgrading to two of those eventually. =)

I7-2600k runs at 4.3-4.4ghz in Wurm.

8GB RAM

AMD 6970

Hard drives super not relevant to wurm performance, but I'm using a 600GB raptor with a 60GB intel 520 series SSD cache.

3008 Dell monitor, second monitor not used for wurm. Well it is, it runs the wiki...

Audio is HDMI out via second display to a Denon AVR-1611, a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 10.7's and an SVS PCS-12 cylinder sub.

Wurm bottlenecks on CPU on this setup, single threaded performance basically, at 20-30 FPS in built up or heavily treed areas at 4.3-4.4ghz. I've noticed water chews a fair bit too. In caves etc it runs a 60fps. Wurm is the most CPU demanding game I have :)

I play on a MSI GT Series GT70 0ND-219US with the following specs:

  • 17.3" Full HD Anti-reflective Display (16:9; 1920 x 1080)
  • Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.3GHz
  • 12GB DDR3 1600MHz system memory
  • 1.5TB (7200RPM; 750 x 2 in RAID 0)
  • Dynaudio Premium Sound Speakers with THX TruStudio PROâ„¢
  • NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 675M discrete graphics (DDR5 4G VRAM

I run on full settings and usually get a solid 60 FPS. There are sometimes where I get occasional lag, but it's not too often. I am also able to run multiple clients just fine as well. I usually lower the graphical settings on the other clients slightly.
