Posted April 22, 2013 (edited) For the last hour I've been writing a Wurm song, which I named "Independence Anthem". It's really silly, but I thought it would be fun to share anyway. I don't know anything about writing songs and basically just counted syllables to get the rows to add up, so constructive criticism is welcome. It tells the story of when people first moved to Independence, in a slightly romanticized and simplified way. It's voice-only and recorded with the microphone on my webcam, but I wanted to show what kind of melody I had in mind when writing it. Pretend that a singer accompanied by a lute, a harp and a flute is performing it and it'll sound like I want it to (assuming you know how I want it to sound..okay the explanation isn't working). The song:http://aerisu.tumblr.com/post/53460060211/a-song-i-made-inspired-by-an-event-in-the-game#disqus_threadThe lyrics:The Independence AnthemA kingdom once shattered in three pieces eachTook sails towards the horizon,Well out of wars' reachThey founded a home when the shore'd been reachedCounted all their blessings,And Gods they beseeched:Please let us live here in peace in the woods! We'll live as pride tradesmen,And pay with our goodsOh, Please let us stay here forever, for good! We'll live by the God's rules,As best as one couldPlease let us live here in peace in the woods! The lands were so rich, but the mountains so highTo find some little valley,Takes you to the skyThey searched hard and said "this is where I will die"The kingdom rebuilt albeit without a kingLives happily in the forest,And they need nothingThey took a look around them and saw everythingCounted all their blessings,And still they're asking:Please let us live here in peace in the woods! We'll live as pride tradesmen,And pay with our goodsOh, Please let us stay here forever, for good! We'll live by the God's rules,As best as one couldPlease let us live here in peace in the woods! Posted April 25, 2013 Nice stuff! For uploading, I'd use Dropbox. Easy and I think a play button will appear as long as your browser has the right plugins (of which almost every person will have the right stuff.) Can use it for any type of file. www.dropbox.com
Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks!I generally don't get along very well with dropbox, but I guess it's worth a try. Thanks for the tip

Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) You're famous on the Facebook page too it seems: imagine my shock delight when I logged into FB and your name came up. Anyway, let me know when the concert tour starts, I've only got 2 more Springsteen shows and Amanda Palmer in the next month so I can fit your shows in just about! Posted May 21, 2016 (edited) Three years late to the thread but... This brings back memories from many years ago when we wrote anthems for Jenn Kellon, Mol Rehan and our fiendish friends. I ran a competition where I wrote three orchestral pieces and then challenged Wurmians to come up with the lyrics - they were then judged by the moderation team. I am sorry, I cannot remember the names of the lyricists now, but we did have some interesting offerings. Some less than printable! Well done Aeris - nice to see there are still poets on Wurm, even if I am not Lots of Love Gurubear (Bard of Wurm) PS: I hope you are all looking after my bloody crater!
