I was thinking that there should be another use for a compass other then telling wich way you are facing.

I think there should be a option to set it to point to your village token or the main server spawn area if u get lost

and even a option to have it point to another village lets say when u click the option Other village or something along thouse lines a box pops up and asks you to type the name of the village should only be usesable on a PVE server since if used in PVP a enemy kingdom can type in a village they want to attack and it would show them the way so PVE yes, PVP no

I like the idea +1. But I dont think that you will get much support since people will complain about the game becoming to easy etc. Even though the survival aspect in Wurm only lasts for around two hours till you get a house and fences.

We dont have ingame map for a reason and making a compass do what you want is pretty much like an ingame map as it points you directly to where you want to go. This is pretty much a set waypoint. IMO the compass is fine as is. It does it job pointing N S W E and that the players must navigate themselves.

Gamers are peculiar, if there is an easier way we will always use it. There may be a literal option, but realistically there is no option. If it's easier, people will feel forced to use it in order to keep moving forward in the various aspects of the game. Take for instance CoC and WoA. They are very much optional just like the feature you are suggesting. How many players do you know that don't use CoC to increase gains and WoA to do menial tasks faster that can afford them?

I can't imagine there are many non-painful ways to be eaten by vicious bears.

-1 sorry man, but everyone should be able to match their surroundings to the maps, hills/mountains/coasts and such. The servers do not have areas that match one another

you would still be better off using the maps to navigate with your compass pointing NESW, because the pointer might run you straight into a mountain that you needed to go around, which is blocked by say a HUGE lake that you can't swim accross... but could have easily went around had you not been mindlessly following the waypoint.

It wouldn't make it easier for this exact reason, may even run a noob straight into the center of a desert and the noob dies.. etc

Changes nothing, causes noobs frustration.

Let them learn to use the maps and navigate the right way, its fun i think :D. It especially isn't hard.

Precisely. They work off of magnetic poles, they're not GPS units

Perhaps let em react to the presence of adamantine and/or glimmersteel ore/boulders?

Nothing specific, the compass can just spin around erratically while within a certain radius.

yeah because on freedom wolves and dogs are such a danger

+1, doesn't really make anything easier, most people have common sense as to where to go, and it would only go as to helping newbies, but for incentive to get skill up, should be at a higher ql mark.
