Strange Texture Issues Since 3 Months.

Hi, i installed wurm 3 months ago for the first time on my laptop and computer. at that time wurm was buggy, ironwood skins were not working, some textures also not working and most of default keybinds like turning / strafing to right was not working too. Since that time my wurm is buggy on my computer and laptop after all reinstalls, verify packs etc. nothing have worked.

But when i try to install the game on different computer it works great, so i'm thinking about some hidden files remains on my computers and when i try to reinstal wurm the problems occurs again.

Because of that i'm asking that how do i remove the game completely and reinstall like i'm installing on a new computer ( like new formatted)

- I Tried to remove Wurm folder, search and delete registry files contains " wurm " , deleting " Sun " folder in appdata. Are there any different things that i must do ?? Thanks for help

Not worked, game is still bugged. here is the step by step list what i did...

1 - Deleted wurm folder

2 - Deleted game client

3 - Searched and Deleted registry key contains " wurm ".

4 - Cleared all temporary files and game client from Java Control Panel

5 - Uninstalled Java and Reinstalled latest version.

6 - Downloaded and installed game client.

Result: Still no textures for UI and roofs. What is the problem ... i dont have any idea why this is happening

May not be Wurm itself, but a problem with Java, maybe you could try reinstalling that.

Yes delete the wurm folder which should clear any local player data (passwords, window positions, configs etc)

To finally clear the program open the Java control panel using the Javaws -viewer command (From Windows run/search prompt) Delete the installations by right clicking on them.

After that uninstalling and re-installing java should clear any last bits

Not worked, game is still bugged. here is the step by step list what i did...

1 - Deleted wurm folder

2 - Deleted game client

3 - Searched and Deleted registry key contains " wurm ".

4 - Cleared all temporary files and game client from Java Control Panel

5 - Uninstalled Java and Reinstalled latest version.

6 - Downloaded and installed game client.

Result: Still no textures for UI and roofs. What is the problem ... i dont have any idea why this is happening

Try downloading the pack manually. Fetch http://www.wurmonline.com/packs/graphics.jar , then close the client, and copy it over the existing file in the packs folder.

If you continue having problems with packs, please upload a copy of your graphics.jar somewhere (dropbox or some file hoster) so that I can have a look at it.

Are you using some sort of proxy or firewall software? If so, try disabling that while downloading packs. Something is modifying your pack file.

Hi, i'm just using windows 8 without firewalls or proxy. Also just reformatted the PC and same problem occured. Maybe windows' own firewall doing this im not sure. Trying to disable them and going to try again

Sorry if I missed seeing this above. Have you tried the "Verify All Packs" button on the launcher (under Graphics Update) as that solved it when I once had something similar. ** Oops rereading again I see now that you mention that already (Had a java popup first complaining about content from a mix of verifeid and unverified certificates, or something along those lines). So maybe some overly aggressive UAC setting. Also if you have the game installed to "Program Files" or some ofther "official" folder, recent windows versions sometimes seem to have some secret override, so I always install Games only to C:/Games/xxxx or some other custom folder and never to the official Program Files type folders.

** I noticed in checking my console logs, that mine always refers to the game file locations as

C:\Games\wurm\configs\low\gamesettings.txt

while yours refers instead to

C:\Users\USERNAME\wurm\configs\default\gamesettings.txt

which is probably one of those locations where Windows sticks in nose in everything and gets overly intrusive. Maybe try instead downloading and running the file from C:\Wurm\xxxx and see if it is possible for it to install files there instead? Especially if that Java popup complaining about "mixed" verified/unverified certificates is an issue for some Windows security settings. Actually that C:\Users\USERNAME\wurm\ location seems to pop up a lot in problem posts here in technical support, but its possible thats just a pure coincidence and nothing to do with more aggressive windows security in such folder locations.. For all I know, everyone in the game except me uses that location with zero problems.

edit: I think there were the same popup messages I had received shortly before getting some issues with missing meshes, which might help Wurm devs find a way to reduce its occurance on their side? Also maybe some settings players can adjust on their side to allow the "mixed" code

Thanks for your knowledge and ideas Brash. i deleted game files, and installing it on c:\games\wurm as you did. I'm not sure if it going to work or not but i guess we all sticked on security measures. I lowered UAC to minimum, Java Security Settings to minimum and disabled windows firewall. Downloading whole wurm content. Going to inform you about the happening

dang, check in java from link above whether mixed code is allowed (with warning) , or if it is blocked with no warning (its the second section in this image):

it should be on the last tab under ADVANCED > SECURITY > MIXED CODE, and set it to enable with warning if not already there.

PROBLEM IS SOLVED !! :)

I realised that, Wurm's java codes contains " i " letter different than turkish keyboard. When i press " i " the game console takes it as " ı " which is a Turkish Letter. That's why while game console loads textures the " i " letters are identified as " ı " so it leads my game to broken textures. I changed display language and keyboard language to UK English. Everything is fine..

Thanks Brash and Wulf. I Guess that " i " letter confussion should be fixed by coders :)

oh dang you know, that turkish keyboard issue causing "?" mystery bags has come up before and I always forget to ask about that. I never realized we had so many Turkish players :) well YAY that it is now solved!!

We should remind Wox how he promised to rename the .XSI extensions to uppercase I :P

:) if you inform him/her about default keybinds also i would be pleased. deafult Move_right and turn_right is not working because of that " i " letter issue. We have to rebind them. I'm happy about the issue will be solved. Thanks to both of you again.
