Unlock Priest Restrictions With Additional Fees

Recommended Posts

Each of the 4 magic trees can be used by a crafting like toon if you have purchased a monthly unlock fee. 5 EUR per a branch seems fair as that is what you'd pay if you got an alt to do it.

Instead of me paying for 3 toons: a crafter, vynora, and fo, I could just pay an additional 10 EUR and have my crafting toon do it all. The magic unlock would work very similar to premium time.

One disadvantage is not multiclient playing would slow things down. You can get more done if your sac'ing items/enchant on the priest while on another client improving tools with the crafter.

edit1:

-As an option to 5 EUR let us unlock one month with 10s at a token.

-5 EUR per a religion to unlock

This will be shot down of course.

Option for priest to craft would be nice but not like this, something more restricted would be more appropriate.

Unlock them, but don't allow characteristic gains from activities they would not normally be able to do without paying extra, that way you can still craft if you like, but its also balanced in that a PvP priest gains no extra advantage by paying more except being able to make their own armour

Meh too much like a pay-to-win game, granted you already have to pay to get access to the premium stuff.

No, just no *shakes head*

As Rolf said in his presentation, he likes to think of Wurm Online as a game that offers free unlimited trial, not a f2p game.

This would be almost as bad as instant travel, in-game minimaps, purchasable skills and NPC servants.

No, priests have restrictions for a reason. It is trying to promote living in villages with others and working in cooperation. The idea should be spread through all the other skills, becoming a specialist in 1 automatically restricts you from pursuing others. That would go along way to getting folks to join villages rather than single person deeds everywhere. But the game has gone on so long this way I doubt even that will happen. Your idea would make you a 1 man enchanted item factory like Champs were, and that is not really what we want to see anymore.

To the "Wurm should force group play"...you can already play solo by just paying for premium on alts. All this idea would change is that you don't need priest alts anymore. Everything else like CodeClub's income and solo play potential would stay the same.

On another subject, what happens to your faith as a craft toon when your magic unlock time runs out? We should not penalize faith like now. I propose we make people choose one of 5 paths when they get premium: crafting, fo, vynora, mag, lib. Only having carting would set faith to somewhere in the rage 0 to 29. If you'd payed for religion time faith would return to the last highest amount. With this players could choose to be just a Vyn priest like now and pay the same as now. If you don't have crafting and have at least one religion the faithful concept we use could be applied.

A game balance issue is that you'd only have to train up characteristics, channeling and faith on one toon. Using separate faith and channeling for for each religion seems like it would get confusing.

From a role play perspective it seem weird you could all willy-nilly flip flop between religions.

I'm curious how a lot of people are overlooking the fact that you can already have this with alts. Thus, the protests against pay win or solo play don't make any sense.

Less afk alts around, less CodeClub server resources used, less of my computer resources used. Oh well, I didn't really expect this get a warm welcome.

I'm curious how you are overlooking the fact that its the whole pay-to-unlock aspect thats causing people to reject this idea.

Restrictions are there for a reason, paying to unlock skill sets will just devalue the entire game.

I would be fine with removing religion from the game, or just having one priest type, or just having all priests craft like champions used to on Wild, but it needs to be part of the game for everyone,

not something you need to buy extra in the shop.

Who says I also support the use of Alts? This whole situation is very grey in my opinion but honestly I'm done trying to change anything.

Any Unlock Feature like the one you propose Joedobo should only be available as a reward for Ingame Character Activity as the unlock mechanism, never by paying for it with rl cash.

And to be quite frank we don't need it, as a community and as a MMO I mean. Having restrictions on Priests make them useful mostly only for Priest activity, and thus a Player is apt to have a Main character (premium) that can do everything but Priest activity, and a Priest as well, also Premium of course. That's more money for Wurm to cover the costs of operating the game and turning a profit so they don't tell the hamsters to go home. It's worked well for years and I think it should stay as it is.... and I say this as a Player that fundementally disagrees with how the Priest system and features work in Wurm! Even though I don't like it I see that many, many Players DO like Priests as characters and the game benefits financially from it. That's enough for me.

We should not be able to do what we are already doing? We should not be able to do what we have been doing for 5+ years I been playing? Which is paying for alts to effectively remove restrictions. I think it would be beneficial to remove the alts from the equation and just let people pay extra to do what they where doing with alts on one toon.

It doesn't really matter because no one approves. Nothing to see here, move on.

@ kyrmius. Either i fail to explain or you need to read more carefully. Thier would be no change in the finical affects on CodeClub. You pay 5 EUR a month for premium on priest + 5 EUR on crafter...I'm suggesting you pay 10 EUR a month to be both a crafter and say a Vynora priest

I think less afk priests would benefit the community feel of the game. Ever try to talk to afk toon?

What would happen is people would still play 2 characters, except their priest alt would be able to cast every spell in the game while their main crafter makes items to sacc.
