i have a question. why is everyone using wooden fences? stone walls are easier to build for a newb anyway. no nails needed. and you have to mine to get to the iron anyway, so you have stone shards. just build stone and dont worry about it. till the bug happens to stone. haha

I am using wood fences because it is authentic for the real life historical site I am attempting to re-create in Wurm. At that site stone fences were not used because they were though to be inferior to good solid wood fences. Wurm's standard Wooden Fence and Wodden Fence Gate are a very close match to what was used, and fences like Wooden Fences are still beining used in Kentucky and other States in the US for Horse Ranchs.

I am not goin to change my Deed Plan over this "mistake". I refuse.

I don't think its fixed in the sense that it seems to happen when the server is down for maintenance.

I don't think they can walk through wooden fences all the time, only when the servers are restarting, so just pray for as little server restarts as possible between now and when Rolf returns from holiday.

This is the trouble for me on the deal we never get any word form the staff as to what happened or what is being done to fix it. Can we use them again? Are they bugged still and we need to look at other ways to fence in our animals? The only response over the deal was from one GM and they had no idea what was going on.

As to the fact that they broke again, No idea what thats about, Hope it gets fixed soon even tho it doesnt affect me, as I only have 2 horses and they are in the garden pen at my house, which is fenced in iron for aesthetics.

Take a few seconds out if your day and give the players a heads up as to what we should do. Is it that much to ask for?

Newbie here: I'm just amazed that people are flipping out over a problem which has a solution: stone fences. You want somebody else to do all the work, but don't care to do any extra work yourself.

Are you willing to build stone fences for people with the guarantee that Rolf will never screw those up either, and if any horses lost you will gave the player his silver he paid you to build the stone fence and compensate for horse losses? Since you are so sure of the solution, sounds like you have a cannot lose biz model.

In case you have not figured it out people do not want to do that work because Rolf cannot guarantee he will not screw those up as well. Neighbors are stepping in to help each other because they do not want their friends to give up in despair. When people suffer a loss they usually do not have it in them to recover, it is not because they are being lazy. So the community steps into help, just like in the real world when disaster happens they step up.

I don't use wood fence because they are cheap to make i use them because they are the fence i think looks the best. I like the rustic look and like to keep things as natural as it can be and still function. The fact is it should not matter what fence you use they all should do the job as intended and to be honest stone fence is much easier to make anyway everyone has a ton of rockshards around.

This bug really did pick a horrible time to occur, left impalong today (been imping for almost 3 days..) so I could help neighbours round up animals and build a better way of keeping them safe.

Personally, I did not lose anything. But that doesn't mean I don't respect the feelings of those who did. It's simply not fun. Especially on servers where players have spent time (and often money) breeding specific types, specific creatures, or on servers where there are very few 'wild' animals around so losing your personal stock hurts. It doesn't matter if you lose 0 animal or 10, it's a known bug that shouldn't be persisting this frequently.

If someone needs help on Deliverance or Independence putting up stronger pens or collecting their animals back please feel free to ping me (or Arysh, on Deliverance) and I'll do my best to help.

well i am down to three hell horses now from the deal the rest of the animals i got most of them back but the hell horses are kept in pens just off deed to keep the guards form attacking. When the fences get bugged they wonder on the deed and get killed. It is just a shame what we are now going to be forced to use a fence we do not like just to keep them safe. The way it was posted here is that it will happen every time the server restarts till Rolf gets back form holiday or something i guess.

Lets just hope there is something good under the tree this year we have put up with a lot of stuff going wrong this year.

I said long ago this is why you do not pay for animals.....always something will happen to kill them or make them disappear.

I remember way back when I bought champ deer and within a month or so poof all the females just died because of some new thing that was changed about animals.

This latest change is just a series of changes that keep happening over and over again to reduce animal population.

I think the a rework of taming and the carefor bit would help so at least you could have 6 or so that don't run off with a fence update or die off with a crowding update.

Actually I have stone fences and did not lose a thing but significant time helping neighbors find their livestock. The only thing 1.0 cost me is it transmuted lead and zinc to iron and my gold/silver was not lost. It does not mean I gloat over those that did lose gold/silver, I am PO that happened just as if it had happened to me. I also do not have a roof. Not enough incentive for me to start using a buggy roof system.
