Wurm Assistant - Enrich Your Wurm Experience

Recommended Posts

I have just tried fresh install through the launcher and it's working. irrKlang.NET4.dll is in the folder.

Please also try fresh install, into a neutral directory, for example: C:\watest\

If the problem persists, go to:

C:\watest\[launcher dir]\bin\wo\[build]\[version]\

And see if the file is indeed there. Try to start WA from that folder with AldursLab.WurmAssistant3.exe

If still doesn't work, check that no antivirus is blocking access to that DLL. Try making an exception for the whole launcher directory. Also verify you have latest .NET framework installed and correct version of VC Redist:

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86), official download:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328

That's all the ideas I have.

Just tried to install this a couple days ago, but it won't run.  Continues to give me a error message.  I wouldn't assume that it's the fault of Windows 10; however, I'm not savvy with programming, so I'm not entirely sure what the problem is.  Perhaps it's something that has already been mentioned in this thread?

Have you installed all the .NET distributions?

there are like 3 or 4 of them from different years.

Installing the package recommended in the main post:

Quote

Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86), official download:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8328

Solved the problem.

Have you guys tried that? Reinstall maybe?

It does have to be x86 SP1.

I will try to include this dependency in the WA itself, if possible.

I've hired Batman to detect when this package is missing and suggest a solution.

I've also most likely fixed the issue with WA settings getting corrupted on system crashes.

The updates are cooking and will arrive shortly.

Mine works now.  Good job!

Wait....nevermind.  I booted it back up and this is the error I received:

Hmm that can't be anything I did, launcher was not touched. Maybe a file got accidentally deleted? Can you try downloading it again?

Could you have uninstalled some .NET component by accident? Such uninstall takes effect after system reboots. I suggest repair on .NET Framework 4.5.

i would love it if i could choose which avatars WA will load and check,

can you add something to the options so i can uncheck some of my avatars (some of them return errors which i just don't want to see)?

i mean these kinds of errors which i only have on some avatars

Should I just make sure to update my Net Framework to the most recent version?

Edit:  Nevermind, the most recent version is already installed. Hmmm....

Edit edit:  When I reinstall Wurm Assistant it will succeed on its first attempted launch and open up, and everything is fine.  As soon as I close the program and launch again, it fails.  This pc is brand new, I've yet to uninstall anything on it, so it's highly unlikely I damaged .NET Framework 4.5 by accident.  Not sure what the problem is.

Hmm have you yet checked the usual culprit: antivirus? :)

My antivirus is the same as it has always been, so no changes.

Try following the hint in the error message, turn on assembly binding debugging. It should then tell you exactly what can't be loaded. My bet however, is on antivirus. Do a folder exclude, try again.

That's all I can do here.

The season tool is an approximation, it can be 3 or more days out, due to server code added to randomize ripening a little.

Thanks bigsteve, I had run into this a few times but at that time the server was having timing issues.

Lately on start up and installation I'm getting an error message that it can't overwrite an existing file. It's opening anyway, but not sure I'm getting the latest version or not. Is there a quick fix for that? Deleting the already existing file I'm assuming but not really sure which one it is or where it lives.

Thanks!
