Null Tile Errors

The game just started randomly crashing after the last update. I have also noticed strange spikes rising out of the water. Updated my drivers and Java and re-downloaded all packs with no success. Any advice would be appreciated.

Having this problem as well, and from what was noted on an earlier thread some others are as well.

I note that the frequency of this happening has increased this week with my upgrade to Java 7.7.

Note that the client error message of:

Unexpected crash while playing

java.nio.BufferUnderflowException

is consistant every time with mine as well as in the OP's log posted here.
