I've got this idea from my silly post in the golden valley.

Wurmonline is a game made without any budget, most of the developers are volunteers and the engine is all self made appart for a few graphics. The main costs go to the maintance of the servers and to Rolf him self. For all this we pay 5 euro's and spend money on buying silver.

Now what I am going to say can vary per opinion, but I find developement in wurm slow and unprofessional. The forums are usualy full with complaints about bugs and about bad performance.

With an additional 10 euro's for every premium per month, the company can get full time developers and invest in better servers, maybe new technology for the engine (physis). Issues suchs as simple bugs, dumb ai, poor animations can be problems of the past.

An other reason why I suggest this is because I'm worried about wurms future. The game industry is still growing rapidly and wurmonline is falling behind fast. I heard from veteran players that wurm is almost the same as it was 5 years ago and I self havn't seen much progress last 2-3 years. Also, there was already some worries about Darkfall who had some wurm-like concepts. I think it's only a matter of time when some big budget company comes with a generic wurm copy.

I personaly am not certain if I would pay 15 euro's straight away. My experience with wurm is disappointing. I would start paying when some visable results are showing.

What do you think? Comments and critism please.

You wouldn't want to pay that amount yourself, but want to see others pay, so you can enjoy your wurm experience? Yea, right.

Besides, upping the price for premium can backfire faster than you'd wish.

No.

Based on Wurm's past performance, (and evidently, what it's future performance entails) investing even more money into this game is a ridiculous business choice unless Rolf (and I use that as a reference to the entire development team) seriously refines on what he has in a reasonable period of time and shows himself capable of addressing several key problems with the game and assuring us he's not going to pull an SOE further down the track and completely blow the game up beyond all recognizable proportions.

However, if I was informed that full time developers were hired and that they had some experience working in the game industry previously and a clear plan of Wurm's future would be plus an extended documentation of what already exists is presented to the public, I would definitely consider chalking in another 15E to Wurm a month. This would be highly subjective though, as it would push my current premium costs with Wurm to somewhere around 120AUD a month - which is colossal on the amount of money I have allocated for recreational use considering my life as a student.

If i started seeing some actual documentation on this game and rolf following some professional code on how to work as a team & make good quality decisions, then maybe.

But lets not kidd ourselfs .. if there were a influx of money, nothing would really change. Except maybe he'd start paying the client devs. :)

So far good comments, makes sense.

How can I enjoy playing while I have to pay to play. Think first, then start posting.

Either that's because English isn't my main language or because your sentence doesn't actually make sense, but either way, I don't understand it.

No because it wouldn't fix anything, The day the fight system starts improving (Like it did before we threw the old perfectly fine code away and made some new trainwreck) is the day i buy a years premium on both of my accounts.

If there was obvious advantages i would not hesitate to pay 15E or even 20E per month, But i think ever since around the time of the FF wurm has just gone downhill and isn't coming back up at all. It's hard to even pay 10E per 2 months.. If it wasn't for the 'community spirit' in wurm keeping people playing, Wurm would be in a terrible problem right now.

Well, from the few posts here, I can safely say that there is little to no trust towards the team. Along the lines of, "those extra 10 bucks won't do a diffrence if they don't use it right"ish. Also because this game is only 5 euro's, which keeps and attracts players who have little extra to spend.

I would love to see the client devs optimize the handling of graphical rendering. This means things like occlusion culling (that works, not just an empty tickbox) and some decent texture/model LOD handling.

Once this is done, then the game will be able to handle better looking effects without a performance drop.

It would also attract gamers who enjoy the graphics a bit over the gameplay.

I have no way of paying for wurm now, but 15e fee for mont would be an overkill for me and i might as well play games that give much more than wurm has at the moment as the same price.

I like the wurm concept but Tosti has a poin; the game is falling behind fast and if Rolf dosen't find a solution fast he might loose even more players as new players rarely get hooked to wurm because of unsatisfying graphics and tehnical problems.

I could maybe pay 10€ per month if it would help and all, but 15 is too much. Dont get me wrong, i would even pay 50 if i had the money, but i just don't :P

If you want to pay 15 euros per month, either buy 3 months of prem, 2 months + 5s or a month + 10 silver, you don't *have* to up prices to pay the same amount.
