Merchant tax is fine the way it is there is no need to have this messed with in game. Basically it is a trade fee for you using this merchant to sell items at your leisure without having to mess with travelling or mailing and even when you are off line.

I think it would help people who own market deeds and all market deeds should have tax if you buy two or more merchants so they can be able to aforde upkeep

Why is a deed required for a public marketplaces, some bonehead may perimeter over it if left undeeded, but merchants do not require a deed to be placed.

If you set up a merchant deed, then you will be bringing traffic to your merchant of course. Hopefully bringing you more revenue than you would get otherwise. If you cannot afford the deed, you can, of course, ask people to chip in. A tax or a portion of what someone else is making would just make people either place their merchants off deed or at another market that would not charge them.

You can set up a public trader with a high tax ratio to help upkeep the deed.
