i7 2600k, nVidia 590 GTX's, 32 GB RAM, Windows 7 x64. Happens on both stable and unstable.

Unexpected crash while playing The error was: <null>

It's possible you might figure out what's wrong from the log file below, but if you can't, post the full log on the wurm online forums, and someone else might be able to help you.

Chaos.

Even updated gfx card drivers, problem still exists.

I logon, I disconnect/reconnect, upon reconnect I get the same crashes pointing at Heap errors.

after last wurm-client update have this problem too (everytimes while playing crush,after login crush or trying reconnect then crush)

Aye, tried Java 7 64 and 32 bit now, Java 6 u33 as per Wollschaf's suggestions. Wolls has spent a good 3-4 hours chatting with me trying to sort the problem out, but hasn't found a culprit yet. The problem happens on multiple machines now as well, spanning different OS's. I am having ZERO problems with other online games, 0 problems with the machines I have tried, no other connectivity problems - Wurm is the sole program acting up, and while not widespread, others are having similar issues.

It happens on all toons I attempt to play on regardless of machine. If I *can* manage to connect and stay on, I get "network alignment" errors and get dc'ed. Further attempts to logon result in errors as above.

No guarantee this will help you at all but - The other week I had issues with massive lag and disconnection. Sometimes it was fine, other times, particularly the evening, I was lucky if I could connect to the game at all. I discovered it was an issue with a network hop somewhere in Norway (I am connecting from the UK). I reported this to my broadband provider (it took some coaxing since they do not understand this is their problem to fix) and it was resolved within a day.

You can determine whether this is an issue for you by using the program 'WinMTR'. Find the server name you are connecting to (mine was freedom003.game.wurmonline.com) and press start. If you see a large amount of packet loss (more than 5% could have an impact) that starts on a hop somewhere, and continues all along the route, and you see that the packets are not being sent, then report that route to your ISP.

Sometimes you might see packet loss because a hop does not prioritise ping packets, so there is a bit of a skill in knowing whether what you see is really a problem. Also your ISP may try to claim that it is outside of their network and so not their problem - however they are the ones who decide on the routes to send their traffic through, and they have the ability to change this (though it might cost them more!). As a customer you should expect this to be fixed.

Sorry for the TL;DR. This was a handy trick I picked up when working in VoIP technology, where the same principle applies. We would see problems like this constantly! I was really pleased when this successfully solved my issue a couple of weeks ago - I was unable to play for several days. At current levels of Wurm addiction, that was very painful.

Thanks for the advice.

I've verified there's no network issues on my end, as I am employed by the company (I am a subcontractor to the telco/ISP) that is also my ISP. Verified personally there's nothing wrong at the DSLAM, and contacted internal network guys to verify there's no throttling going on. Only thing that's acting up is Wurm Online. WoW is fine, torrents are fine, Diablo 3 is fine, my entire company that I run via VPN between here and my shop is fine.

The network alignment errors I get are few and far between, and only happen when I am actually able to get the game to run - which is about 1 in 100 tries lately. The heap errors are what is really constant, and the issues persist on every server I have tried thus far (Chaos, Test). Don't see much point in seeing if the issues occur on Epic or Freedom because I simply don't play there, heh.

Occasionally, I can get the game to run for several minutes in 800x600 mode, but it crashes with the same errors within minutes. 800x600 resolution is not playable even if it did work for me due to vision problems.

Will pester Wollschaf about it some more, as he's been absolutely bending over backwards to give me a hand with this.

Just to be clear that the issue wasn't on my ISP's end, but some provider of theirs that provided a particular route through Norway. The rest of my connections were all fine too, inc Diablo and other games! It only occurred because Wurm connections went through this specific route - they just rerouted it as I saw a day later the IP address on that hop was different :-)

Anyway I hope you get it sorted out. It is frustrating as hell not to be able to get on! I did a system restore and ALMOST went so far as a reinstall when it happened to me. Need. Wurm.

After the fix to remedy the lag issues, I'm happy to say the problem seems to have cleared itself up.

Happening nonstop. I'm not the only one - could a dev please give some suggestions to try so we can try and get the game working? I've done absolutely everything I can think of doing, everything that devs have previously suggested trying.

I played for 2 hours earlier today with zero issues, now I can't even logon. Happens on multiple machines. None of said machines are having one iota of stability issues outside of Wurm.

Crash than crash.. with no global-chat today starts bugs before crashes, include graphic(multypliying items in inventory, have many damage while digging without break-down,have inviting in team from unknown player with non readable symbols name with no anybody in local,visual bug with some tiles like big pillar,items names with non readable symbols e.t.c) -one of theese (freedom avatar model look like epic) at screen-link what i have catch screen before crash. http://minus.com/lcTpRBVykmxrV

Same thing, getting weird garbled menus and skill trees. Logged on earlier to a completely blank inventory, despite the fact I carry everything I own on me.

My "inventory" was "yvntory" for most of yesterday, when the game would actually run.
