Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) This is somewhat of a major change to combat and really it just adds a secondary layer to all of it.There will be different elementsAll priests of any level can cast this low tier spell. 10 favor, 10 difficulty can be disenchanted to force the item to be physical.Nature - FoWater - VynoraFire - MagranonLight - All 3 WL godsPhysical - Natural element.Dark - Libila(Air could be added but the only person it'd make sense for is Vynora, so no)the way this system will work is obvious, Certain elements will deal less or more damage to another elementNature<Fire<Water<Naturethe simple 3Now, introducing the other twoDark will always triumph vs Fire/Water/Nature, and even Physical. but only by a small advantage, but is severely weak to LightLight is weaker then Fire/Water/Nature, and physical, but strong vs Dark,Physical is equal to all except darkness, where it will face a small disadvantage. Now, imbue is a new catagory, and will not take the place of demise, utility, defensive or offensive enchants.Enchanting armor with a element will make it take reduced damage and protect more for the weaker element(s), and take more damage and protect less to stronger element(s).Enchanting weapons will make them deal more damage to weaker element(s), and deal less damage to stronger element(s)along with this, if possible elements could be shown on armor and weapons, tinted a certain color, and if wearing enough of that element have a special effect due to element (Light would cause a small light to be produced and the armor to be tinted more white, fire could be tinted red and a tiny fire effect, water could be tinted blue and have some water-like attributes to them, earth would be green and have some moss or plants growing on the item, darkness would grow purple/black and have moving particles of the color around it.)(yes i'm trying to suggest a basic rock/paper/scissors setup, because honestly i figure that would work better then relying on chance for stuff)In technicality, FB would be weak to dark/nature and FA would be weak to water, RT would be weak to light, and LT/Venom would be weak to all but dark, etc etc. Edited June 25, 2012 by RainRain

Posted June 25, 2012 No more please we got rares and other metals to do this type of thing across the board equally without R/P/S being involved.metals don't really effect how well you do in combat at all, and rares if anything screw up the combat system more because it's not something everyone can get easily, making it more of a snowball for one side
Posted June 27, 2012 Sounds similar-ish to the demise spells and their counters, Vyn's hand, Fo's touch etc. just less specific.
Posted June 27, 2012 (edited) Sounds similar-ish to the demise spells and their counters, Vyn's hand, Fo's touch etc. just less specific.Yeah, that's what i was thinking while doing it aswell, but the fact that they're too specific is what makes them not work very well.after all, on pvp servers the most used demise spell is the one that applies to the most people, and the least specific, humans demise Edited June 27, 2012 by RainRain
Posted June 28, 2012 Unless one is killing dragons.../me strokes his RT'ed Dragonslayer Huge AxThe elemental mechanic has certainly been around long before Pokemon, typically in rpg spell systems. Pretty much boils down to rock-paper-scissors.
