Virus..I guess?

I posted this on another forum and people said they have encountered the same exact thing....

I dunno what is happeneing but I was browsing the internet on myspace and stuff then i needed to take a pee so I went away and when I came back my computer was restarting!!

When it restarted and I tried to get on Firefox it crashed, so I tried again and it crashed again, I still can't get on but sometimes it let's me, like right now.

Everytime I try to get on aim/xfire/msn it pops up but then it instantly closes, I think I have a virus, I have been virus scanning for awhile now and I have found nothing..

do ctrl alt dlt and see if there is any weird programs in the background.

also what OS do you have running?

Get HijackThis (click). After you install it, run the program and hit the first button "Do a system scan and save a logfile." Paste the results here, please. I'll see what I can find.

I highlighted the ones you should fix/repair if you do not know exactly what each one is. Also, why do you have like 20 anti-virus programs installed? Only use one. The best one you have is AVG.

The best way I have found of removing a virus infection is to 'PiggyBack' your hard drive on another computer, i.e. put it in as a secondary drive. Then you can get that computer to your harddrive without fear of a rootkit hiding stuff. Also once that computer has finished and cleaned up, try a few on-line scanners, there are no AV program that can get 100% of all viruses.

Also I notice you have AVG and Avast running, I suggest you get rid of AVG as one can cancel the other out. Seriously! AVG can stop Avast scanning anything, even though it looks like its running normally.

I find Avast's bootscan to be very effective at times. I've removed a few nasties before though without AV, it's nearly impossible to do so with one as they love hiding themselves. If you can't seem to figure out why your PC is still lagging, I can do a remote host on your PC if you want me to.

Peerguardian is just a program that blocks your IP

I do use Firefox 99% of the time  (msn messenger mail is in IE)

I just recently got AVG and detected a virus by using Avast! I put it in the chest but when  I did the scan again I got another virus of the same name but different number (trz239.tmp to trz240.tmp) in the same exact spot. It was in a Google folder in applications in my documents. I kept doing the  scan over to find it in the same spot. I accidentally renamed the virus somehow and after that it disappeared but I have the same symptoms..

I turned on my computer today and haven't seen any of the symptoms (FF crash every time on startup, MSN, AIM and Xfire the same)

to manually enable disable services in windows;

1) click "start"

2) click "run"

3) type "services.msc"

this will open the services control panel and can help with spotting nastys

you sure you didn't pee on your computer by accident? haha? okay *stabs self*, anyway, zekedge basically said the thing i was going to say, get AVG, it is really really useful and can detect most of the common viruses etc.

ow ya be sure not to get rid of nwiz.exe

nwiz.exe is a part of NVidia's Nview features installable alongside it's graphics hardware products. This application will give the user access to additional features which allow the configuration of up to 32 monitors on a host, or to expand the desktop across many monitors.

as said there its just some of the programs that our lovely nvidea put in for us to clog up our memory :P

Super Anti Spyware got rid of a nasty one. Oh, and NEVER EVER EVER download Virus Ranger. It's a fake that will download literally THOUSANDS of viruses onto your daughter's computer ::)
