I do believe i am using the latest version, but since your software doesnt even have an About menu option or version listed on the screen....

Also, I would LOVE to be able to install it on my nice large D drive vice my SSD C drive.

Does your client look like http://pool.coinlab.com/images/wurm/miner-screenshot.png? If so you are using the latest version.

Why would you need to install it on a larger drive? The client is only 4 Mb.

Don't lose hope! It's just a driver issue, I'll help you figure it out.

Now, not to put you down, but I just have to ask: have you tried turning it off and on again?

If you have and it still doesn't work, here are a couple other questions:

Did you get your drivers from the ATI website?

Did you run their silly "Card Detection Tool", or did you put in your card model and download the appropriate drivers? If you used their tool, try just downloading the ones specifically for your card as they sometimes don't give you the right ones.

When you start our client, do you get Windows error messages that say "Could not find OpenCL.dll", or something like that? If so, then something about your driver installation didn't go properly.

If it still doesn't work, can you send your compute.log file to bobby@coinlab.com? You can find it in:

C:/Users/[yourusernamegoesherenotthistext]/AppData/Local/Coinlab/wurm-compute/compute.log

PC has been turned on and off, thats like the first step in fixing stuff. ;)

I manually downloaded the drivers, installed, of course reset my comp. I don't get an error telling me OpenCL.dll is missing, its telling me the libraries don't exist. Is it perhaps because I'm running 32-bit XP?

32-bit XP should be ok. Which libraries does it say don't exist? Do you get an error message? If so what is the text of that error message?

I can guarantee with almost 100% certainty that I went to ATIs website and downloaded the latest drivers for my card,

Just did a quick calculation:

8 hours of a 400W PSU would cost me about 1 € for Power in Germany.

So to break even I'd need a rig that manages 1250 ir/hr at Rolf rate and about 2000 at player rate.

I guess the PSU won't be running at full load though, but it's still way out of proportion.

I was using outdated client of 1.0.5 as was attached in registration email. Getting 7i/hr found latest here and shows now 2k+ i/hr but within 30 seconds I recieve error, "Coinlabengine.exe has encountered a problem and must close" upon clicking close coinlabengine it reopens (because mine client still running) and has same error again. No specific error message or context--only 'close program'

other issue is options menu i am unable to click 'speed' buttons. only polite or slow as other buttons are covered by text. I manually adjusted setting file fine but error message prevent me from mining.

thanks

I'm not sure what your issue is. You mentioned that the installation might have failed once. Could you try reinstalling them, restart your computer, then run our mining client again?

I've heard that power prices in Germany can be up to 3 times higher than in the US. If your power is not included with your lease or you like your landlord, we recommend that you just buy Iron directly from Wurm.

I forgot to update the link in the email, so I apologize for that. If you are still using the old version, download the new one at http://media.coinlab.com/clients/wurm-latest.exe.

Your issues with speed buttons might be caused by having an outdated version of Internet Explorer. Could you try updating it? IE 8 if you have XP, IE 9 if you have Windows 7 or 8. Because it is almost guaranteed that every single Windows computer has IE, we use it to render our interface, so if you haven't updated it in a while, you could be using a very old version.

The one feature I truly miss from the old Mining client was the minimize, it removed it visibly and made it hidden on the taskbar. Could you reincorporate it with this new gui?

Can you both send me your compute.log files so I can diagnose your issue? My email is bobby@coinlab.com. The file is located in C:/Users/[yourusernamehere]/AppData/Local/Coinlab/uber-compute/compute.log . Note, AppData is a hidden folder.

The client can't use your resources if it can't connect to the server.

What do you mean by "uploads the information".

Does it say "connecting to server" in the bottom left hand corner of the client?

If you send me your .log file I can help you, instructions are in my previous post.

If you can't get this client to work, you are welcome to use the old one if it works for you.

@Coinlab, issue with handeling corrupted data

I shut down the client use the X in the top right. Somehow this corrupted the .json files, which I found by looking into the error log (error decompiling Jason files it read, something in that direction)

I solved it by removing ALL files in the Local directory coinlab

The issue? This is what a user experiences:

- shutdown improperly

- start next time. Application just fails to start (no error message, no window, no app). Clicking the link does Nothing

- uninstall, reinstall. Doesn't fix the issue

- reboot, more uninstall, etc. No fix

Please add an error message instructing the user to remove the affected files, or even better. Throw a warning that files where corrupted, delete the files silently and let the app run

@Update, happened again. This time the logging:

I'm having the same problem with the "connecting to compute pool." never going away.. Also, if I launch Google Chrome (or a new window) when the App is running, it throws up a message about having been opened in a new window and closes.

*edit* I get the duplicate window error also, if I open IE, close it, and reopen IE.

Running Win7 32-bit.

*second Edit*

I've installed on three boxes now, 2 Win7 Pro 32-bit, and 1 Win7Ultimate 64-bit... Both 32bit PCs failed to Connect, the 64bit worked without a hitch.

Caellach and Puertorro,

Check to see if coinlabcompute.exe, coinlabengine.exe, and coinlabwindow.exe are being blocked by a Windows firewall. If not, do you have another firewall that could be blocking them?

Caellach,

I'm not sure why opening another regular browser window would cause the window to think that another window is open. The only time that would happen is if you used another browser window to navigate to localhost:9999. The program works by starting a local server hosting at localhost:9999 and the window is a chromeless IE window directed there.

New question, I see a fair amount of "did not get credit for work". Any reason why and how to prevent it?

Hitting the X on the window to close it does not count as improper shutdown. I'm not sure what would cause the corruption, but I made the fix you suggested and it is live. Your client should update within the hour, or download from http://media.coinlab.com/clients/wurm-latest.exe .

The "Did not get credit for work" error is caused by submitting a stale share. Stales happen when you find a share in a piece of work more than 90 seconds old. Could be happening frequently because of a slow / intermittent internet connection, but they are bound to happen to everyone.

No Firewall blocks, and two of the machines (the working 64bit and one of the 32bits) are sitting side by side in the same room, so no Network blockage on that one.

I've even tried running the non-connecting ones "..as Administrator" just to be sure it wasn't a file blockage.. still nothing.

*edit* just spotted another difference between the 64-bit and the 32-bit.. on the 32-bit.. the coinlabengine.exe is Not Running.. (it Is running on the 64bit PC)

Coinlabengine.exe is essential. The only reason it would not be running is if it could not communicate with coinlabcompute.exe. When it starts up and cannot communicate, it kills itself after 30 seconds.

The most likely cause is Windows firewall. Sometimes Windows Firewall will say that a process is allowed, but only on certain networks. For example, it could be allowed only on a private network and you are connected on a public one.

If you are positive there is no Firewall blocking the connections, try these steps:

Open up the task manager, and kill coinlabcompute.exe, coinlabengine.exe, coinlabwindow.exe if any of them are running.

Uninstall the program.

Download the recently updated client from: http://media.coinlab.com/clients/wurm-latest.exe

Install and run.

I've done as you said, unistall, reinstall client (used your link) and am still having the same issue..

I also left taskmgr open while I launched the program a couple times and watched the processes startup.. ...compute.exe launches, then ..window.exe launches, but I never see ..engine.exe launch.. If it kills itself after 30 seconds of no comms, then it Should have been in Taskmgr during that time, and it's not. Not sure what significance that has, but it's Acting like ..engine.exe is simply Not launching for some reason on the pro 32bit box.... ?

*edt* Oh, and just to be sure, I turned Off the Windows firewall, And put in program specific rules for each exe to have unblocked access on All networks.

Thanks for following the instructions. I'm not sure what your issue is right now. In the meantime you can still use the old client. Download at http://media.coinlab.com/clients/32/wurm-1.0.7.msi

*agitated at computer*

Okay.. Uninstalled client, reinstalled using the MSI package.. Now the client wont launch and it's giving me an OpenCL.DLL error (says its not there.. But it IS there...) o.O

(I'm about to put my foot through this computer) :P

(gonna TRY driver update...)

*edit* drivers were already up to date, but reinstalled anyway.. (Nvidia GeForce 6600, driver 306.97) msi client install still giving me the error about needing openCL.DLL libraries..
