Coinlab Faq: How To Earn Silver Coins With Your Graphics Card

Recommended Posts

Having the same problem... CoinLabEngine.exe is constantly restarting and crashing and the client will never actually go anywhere. All drivers etc fully updated, Windows 7 64 bit, 2x Asus Radeon HD4870 in crossfire.

Works fine on my Windows 8 64 bit with a single 6870 installed.

i think i have same problem.... how we can fix that?

To everyone having issues, try using the old client:

https://s3-us-west-2.../wurm-1.0.7.msi

If that doesn't work, there might be some service using the same port as our client, try doing a clean boot.

Sorry about the links. We signed up for ddos protection and it screwed up our download links. The links on the original post and the email are fixed.

Same two errors for the old one only so far it hits me with them twice.

Couple of things:

1) Are we getting any work aside from bitcoining yet? Many months ago mention was made of other distributed processing projects soon to be fed to the pool.

2) How about the client displaying how many GPU's in the current PC it has detected and is using, just to reassure us it's on the ball.

3) Would be nice to have AMD APU's (CPU + GPU both on same die) added into the recognized set of platforms the Wurm client will utilize. I started running cgminer (results directed at your pool) on my Llano-based laptop that the wurm mining client turns its' nose up at and get a tidy 50MH/s bonus contribution now. The laptop expends very little power and the APU regulates it's own power dissipation as needed to stay under 70C and is thus far safer to bitmine on than many more expensive laptops that have discrete gpu's alongside the cpu. Tomorrow I'll probably set up cgminer on my Trinity-based (2nd generation AMD APU) PC that is also running a triplet of 7770's to get the 4th gpu (in the APU) into the action.

A little calculation from a "GT 130M" with 2303 mb ram on a labtop

i can make 150 iron a day

I use 150 watt pr hour to make that

per day that is 3,6 Kwatt

I pay 0,08$ pr Kwatt

pr day i pay 0,288$

I pay 0,00192$ pr iron

i need 10.000 iron to 1 silver coin.

I pay 19,2$ pr silver coin.

If i buy my silver coins from wurm i pay 1,30$ pr silver coin

So that will say that if i use this program i will pay 14,769 times more pr silver coin thru this program...

Please tell me if i am wrong... thx :)

And i get my irons coins every time i just earn one :)

same error i get with new or old client...

So, you have both tried both clients and a clean boot? If so, I don't think there is anything I can do to help you get our client working. If you want to, you can use a regular bitcoin mining client, like cgminer, and point it at our pool using the credentials:

pool: http://pool.coinlab.com:8332

user: wurm_yourusernamehere

password: x

1) No, we are not sending out any work besides bitcoin mining. Due to some setbacks, we will not be able to offer any other work besides other than bitcoin mining.

2) We don't have any plans to integrate that into the client, but if you look up what GPUs you have in this table https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Mining_hardware_comparison, and compare the sum of their power to what you see on your stats page: http://pool.coinlab.com/partners/wurm/stats, you can get an idea of what numbers you should be seeing. Note that the numbers posted on that site can be faster than what you will see with our miner due to overclocking and/or mining kernel optimized for their card.

3) Sorry, but we don't have plans to make use of integrated GPUs in our client. You should just use cgminer.

That's right. Nvidia cards aren't good at bitcoin mining due to the way they are built. Mobile cards aren't good at bitcoin mining because they are low power and not very efficient. We're sorry we can't help you. You should just buy your silver through Wurm.

earlier in this thread you listed to connection details as:

URL: pool.coinlab.com

Port: 8332

Username: wurm_username (ex. Rolf -> wurm_rolf)

Password: x (lower case 'x')

This is what I am feeding cgminer and it is clearly working correctly.

does it work equally well with port 5001?

Our servers are currently down due to technical issues. We are working our hardest to get them back online. The issue started at 11PM PST last night. Our servers went down at 3:20 pm PST today and from then until they come back up you will recieve error messages on the client. Your card will not be burning electricity until they are on again.

You will be credited for all work done.

Would really like to see how much silver this has added to the wurm economy as a whole any chance you can add that in to the client or just post a round about number?

Hey everyone. I've gotten some reports that people are missing Iron, and I have confirmed that the problem is on our side. The data is not gone for good, it is just sitting in intermediate data storage and is not getting delivered over to Wurm. I'm looking into getting that fixed asap. I apologize for the inconvenience.

I don't understand what you are saying. Can you clarify?

I don't think I've gotten any mail from you. Where did you send it?

You meant to ask what the calculations are for. Calculus is a specific type of mathematics.

They are not doing any research at the moment. Basically they are looking for digital gold.

This digital gold is used to support the bitcoin currency, just like real gold is used to support dollar or euro currency.

This digital gold needs to have a very specific structure, so that it can not be faked. Finding these structures needs lot of calculations.

Well, the thing is obviously way more complex than that, especially when you get technical but that's the basic idea.
