Posted May 4, 2012 The base inventory, anyways. If you wear a backpack, it gives you what is currently an inventory. No matter the ql of the backpack, it will always be able to carry the same volume. Items that are naturally bigger to handle should be carried on-hand (i.e barrels) But backpack volume space should be extended aswell, to hold a majority of what we can now. Effectively, having a backpack would make this suggestion indifferent then the current system, but not having one makes you only able to equip weapons, a quiver, and armor, or any item on your hands. Along with this, toolbelts should be expanded to hold items on them, aswell as on the hotkey. This is a supportive suggestion for other things i have in mind, it wouldn't be a bother, all newbies start with a backpack anyways (which should be changed to no-drop now imo)
Posted May 4, 2012 +1 I don't think one should be able to carry the entire Department of Defense in their inventory.
Posted May 4, 2012 Supportive suggestion for other suggestions, and general realism suggestion. plus some minor balancing i.e not carrying 4 sets of armor with you.
Posted May 4, 2012 -1 The current inventory system is fine the way it is, your suggested change will just make the game more complicated.
Posted May 4, 2012 -over 9000!!! inventory is too useful to remove
Posted May 4, 2012 +1 I actually like the idea. It's not gonna happen I think at this stage in the game's development -- but I still think its a nifty idea.
Posted May 4, 2012 -1, adds unnecessary complexity to the game without actually improving it. Inventory doesn't become easy/better to use due to this suggestion, instead you now need a backpack just so you can have an inventory. At the same time right now you can have 2 inventories because the backpack can be used as a second one, for example my main inventory currently has tools, while my backpack has healing stuff and stuff I've gathered from hunting. By merging these into one inventory it just becomes a huge cluttered mess. If this suggestion actually improved something then maybe, but how it is now it just takes away things we can currently do and adds new requirements, it also makes death even harsher since you will need to get yourself a new backpack just so you can have an inventory. Have fun making that new backpack by dragging and dropping stuff to your hands every single time, you'd better hope it doesn't become an unfinished backpack that requires 30+ actions (and all the moving around of your tools) to finish. There's a reason everybody always has an inventory...
Posted May 4, 2012 Yes this makes it more realistic but real is not always more entertaining.
