Posted April 19, 2012 For last 2 days, wurm has been extremely laggy for 2 seconds delay times on any click, totally freezing while on a boat for minutes, longer load times. Meanwhile all other internet activities are normal. It's just wurm and started after one of the patches. I dunno if anyone else is having this issue but I can't play like this. Posted April 19, 2012 Exact same situation for my room-mate and I. The last 2 days have become near unplayable. Is anyone else having this problem?
Posted April 19, 2012 Ditto. And now today it is completely unplayable. Literally like a 60 second lag between when I hit enter and when my chat appears
Posted April 19, 2012 Day 3, and for you three, whatever you do try to avoid taking a ride as a passenger on a boat lol. Connectivity still at times unplayable. Limited to actions of long timers
Posted April 19, 2012 Today it is much worse, takes much longer than normal to log in and 1-3 minutes waiting looking at water and a shifting sky before the game fully loads. Can't make it out of my house, cant do any actions. Yesterday I was having huge lag spikes on GV, some lag on Serenity and medium to huge constant lag on Independence. Posted April 19, 2012 Same for me, it's worst today than ever, first time got perma stuck on refreshing, second attempt perma stuck on sky shifting, it just doesn't load at all now.
Posted April 19, 2012 Tried reinstalling wurm and java. No dice. Tried turning off firewall. No change. Tried going straight from my pc to my modem. Did not change anything. Nothing else I run has connection problems, so I dont know what the heck is going on. Oddly, Serenity is behaving much better than Independence as far as loading everything, but is still unplayable. Posted April 19, 2012 Do you have a ATI card too? Wurm is so hostile towards ATI, or Java not sure which...and after last patch...
Posted April 19, 2012 No, I have Nvidia. It's just a connection problem I believe. My framerate doesnt drop below 40 once the game completely loads. Just constant "Refreshing..." Never had this problem with wurm before. About to call my isp and complain just in case.
Posted April 19, 2012 Okay, got in touch with my isp.. Went through all the normal stuff. Directly connected through the modem again. Did a traceroute and emailed it to the rep. -------------------------------------------------- C:\Documents and Settings\Owner>tracert freedom001.game.wurmonline.com Tracing route to freedom001.game.wurmonline.com [194.68.222.113] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 6 ms 7 ms 8 ms 74-140-96-1.dhcp.insightbb.com [**.***.**.*] 2 6 ms 7 ms 6 ms 74-139-2-177.dhcp.insightbb.com [**.***.*.***] 3 19 ms 18 ms 15 ms 216.156.72.141.ptr.us.xo.net [216.156.72.141] 4 13 ms 14 ms 13 ms sl-st31-chi-.sprintlink.net [144.223.43.153] 5 13 ms 18 ms 16 ms sl-crs2-chi-lc1-1-4-0-0.sprintlink.net [144.232.8.187] 6 22 ms 20 ms 23 ms sl-crs2-akr-0-3-3-0.sprintlink.net [144.232.20.186] 7 31 ms 33 ms 39 ms sl-crs2-rly-0-4-2-0.sprintlink.net [144.232.7.121] 8 32 ms 34 ms 32 ms sl-crs2-dc-0-4-0-2.sprintlink.net [144.232.8.164] 9 30 ms 30 ms 33 ms sl-st30-ash-0-14-0-0.sprintlink.net [144.232.25226] 10 35 ms 32 ms 32 ms sl-tdcca-367038-0.sprintlink.net [144.228.205.58] 11 160 ms 158 ms 167 ms ge0-1-2528.cty-pe2.lpi.se.sn.net [62.65.8.17] 12 162 ms 161 ms 164 ms 62.65.8.18 13 161 ms 159 ms 157 ms static-213.88.203.94.addr.tdcsong.se [213.88.203.94] 14 163 ms 160 ms 162 ms freedom001.game.wurmonline.com [194.68.222.113] Trace complete. Posted April 20, 2012 Different computer, different internet connection, and I still ahve the same issue. Takes over a minute to load into game, then I get in game and can't do anything. Half the world doesnt even load. I will run around at water level for 5 minutes or so before it starts to load... No clue wth to do.
Posted April 20, 2012 Yes, it doesn't feel like a graphic issue, but a networking one on wurm's end and only they will be able to help or solve this I fear. Takes many attempts to get a connection, then after awhile it eventually gets stuck on refreshing permanently. I'm stuck bashing down stone walls while watching original episodes of star trek on netflix. Please can a mod save me from this?

Funny, we decided to watch Deep Space 9 today instead of play Wurm Just wanted to make it clear that my room-mate and I are on different computers with different hardware and are experiencing the same thing as the two gentlemen above. Posted April 20, 2012 Which servers are giving the issue? Which Operating System? Java version? (Updated?) Video Card? Video Driver Version (Updated?) Just Independence? I see mention of others, but I would like to narrow it down completely.
Posted April 20, 2012 Windows Xp here. Independence and Serenity today. Yesterday Golden valley as well as the other two.
Posted April 20, 2012 Attempt to load Wurm with minimum graphical settings. Turn off render distance terrain. See if changing settings work, and report if it does. Then narrow down which setting if possible. Perhaps it could be fixed, if broken.
Posted April 20, 2012 Followed your advice and turned graphics settings down and render distant terrain off. Still had the previous problems. Turned back my graphics settings to what i had them set at before and logged on again just to check. Wurm started slower, took a minute more than normal to render the distant terrain and still was experiencing the refresh problem. But then suddenly it started working, with only a liiiiittle more lag than I normally play with. ??? Went out of my house, and into a gatehouse and got stuck. Now lagging again like previous. Posted April 20, 2012 I am on affliction with ATI card, win 7, java current version. Oh and I tried with everything enabled and disabled on min settings, had no affect.

Posted April 20, 2012 Does your ISP shape internet traffic? I've read of problems for some people who's isp shapes traffic that looks like filesharing and Wurm was considered filesharing by them. No idea if that's still a problem but you might have a look into that. Another reason could be corrupted packets. I had that once when my cable was starting to break. It didn't show up as packet loss when pinging something, but it was clearly visible if, for example, I opened google picture search and just clicked through the sites for the search "test", for example. Every now and then there was an image with only half of it showing up and the other half looked distorted or was missing entirely. Wurm's reacting extremely wonky to stuff like that. I'll have to look into that with my ISP, but I've never had such problems before with Wurm. This would be rather new. :-\ Havent had any corrupted images or files either, although I know what you mean. That was happening to me before my modem died a couple years ago. Posted April 20, 2012 Also tried "Enable Nagles Algorithm for combining packets:" Didnt help.
Posted April 20, 2012 Same thing here. It will start to work fine for a few minutes then go right back to endless lag. Has worked fine for 2 months, then after whatever update was done yesterday I cant play at all basically. Seriously doubt that its anything my ISP did, especially considering I tried on a different connection through the ISP I work for and it did the same thing. It is something with the update yesterday..
Posted April 20, 2012 Day 5, hopefully this is solved before my subscriptions run out or there will be no point in trying to play wurm anymore. Still no response from devs or anything on this issue and becoming concerned. On a brighter note, I may be finishing season 1 of the original star trek today :-\
