Posted November 24, 2008 A collection of things that make no sense, but have found a place in Wurm anyway AKA annoying things to fix Needles(Blacksmithing)- They weigh less than .01 kg, they use less than .01 kg of iron ore to imp, yet they use a whopping .20 kg of water to imp. This one's debatable; water is plentiful and you basically need to douse the needle, but the numbers are quite funny to me. Bow in hand- All Wurm characters are right-handed. You hold your primary weapon in your right hand, you barely hit or parry with a weapon in your left hand, a shield only works on your left arm (or maybe doesn't work well on the right, haven't really tried it as I like hitting things), and every time you use a tool, it is in your right hand. Yet for some reason, a Wurm character has to hold a bow in their right hand to make it effective, meaning they'd use their left hand to fire the arrow, as a left-handed person would. Shield on arm- If a person is wearing a shield on their left arm as is needed to make it effective, you cannot see that on their avatar, yet if they hold it in their left hand, it shows up on the avatar, but is useless. Women sound like my cousin, Justin- Aiya basically covered it, all female emotes make them sound like dudes. Not just dudes, manly dudes, with beard stubble and everything. I'll add more to this list as I see/remember/am told of something that deserves to be mentioned. I basically thought it would be fun/helpful to compile all these annoying little fluff features that need fixing, and see what else in Wurm just doesn't quite click. Posted November 24, 2008 Not really annoying so much as wierd, but having to sharpen a silver ball with a whetstone followed by mashing it with an iron hammer. The fact that you gain FS faster at low levels by beating a dummy with a stick than actually fighting.
Posted November 24, 2008 if you don't move, you will not be attacked by anything - you can sit by a ven champ croc in total safety, or blow up an altar right beside a tower, with no worries from the tgs, which are right there. If you run away from an aggro, stop, and un-target, there is a high chance it'll run right up to you, stop on the tile you're standing, and not attack you. Falling 100 tiles and landing in a mine entrance causes no dmg. In fact, on some instance (that mountain you blers are 'growing' on) you can fall off huge.. and i mean huge cliffs, and not get a single wound, bouncing around like a rag doll. At other times, a little fall gives you this nice light wound - and a couple of bounces has you almost completely immobilized. my rant 8)
Posted November 24, 2008 Shield damage You can spend hours imping a shield to 90ql, And it will damage like ten times as fast as a RT sword of equal QL does, Even thou your using the sword loads more, Fighting a troll or something for example. When i go out hunting i need to carry 3 shields with me which is nearly 15kg, One for PVP at high QL, One for hunting at low QL, And one for if i run into something that is tough like a ven champ spider or something. That's how bad the damage is. Most people in my village hunt without shields on because they fear of damaging it, And would rather have a higher chance of death I really think its silly that you can undo hours of imping in a few minute fight. And if anything it discourages PVP since everyone on wild runs around with shields. That's about the only annoyance i can pull off the top of my head that would not be too hard to fix. Posted November 24, 2008 I also used to walk with 2 or more shields. I am probably the only one who thinks the dmg done is not too bad, but ql of the shield doesn't reduce dmg done in anyway. Obviously, high ql shield should be more resistant to taking dmg.
Posted November 24, 2008 Half the time I sit making arrows, I decide to stop working on the arrow I'm at and just mark it as "unfinished", thinking I'll come back to it later... It takes 10,1 kg of materials to make a 2kg small barrel. A large barrel takes 16 kg and is so heavy that it's impossible to lift by even the strongest people in wurm (and it can hold several times more than its smaller variant). A small bucket uses the same materials as a small barrel. Animals can walk on lava, thorns and vertical slopes with no issues. You don't take fall damage in mines, because we all know bedrock is soft. The harder you fall, the less damage you take. All tamable animals have bottomless stomaches - you can tame them with infinite amounts of food.
Posted November 24, 2008 Haha, good so far. I noticed a number of these, just couldn't think of them at the time. Will update the OP later.
