OpenGL giving me loads of grief with crashing

Recommended Posts

Ok, back in September I got some new hardware from a computer repair guy I know.

AMD Phenom 9550 2.2GHz Quad Core

2GB of RAM

Nvidia Geforce 9400GT

New motherboard

The guy reformatted my C drive and replaced my motherboard. And I thought this would fix my previous 'glitching' issues I had with my 7600GS. The card was installed with some drivers, new at the time.

Now when I play Wurm for, lets say a half an hour, my screen starts to flicker to black, removing the HUD in a millisecond. The longer I play the more it flickers, to the point it begins drawing things that the player isn't supposed to see, and flickering uncontrollably(even when the game is minimized).

Until eventually, it crashes. :P

I have updated Java. I have updated my drivers. I have played with my video card settings. I have used both renders in Wurm. I have played with the advanced settings in Wurm... NOTHING is fixing this! >:(

I also have dual monitors, if this helps any. Which means I play in Windowed Mode.

Here's the errors I'm getting. Before it was this;

Now I'm getting this;

It's not an overheating issue either. My temps are normal.

I run kind of the same config as you, AMD proc, Nvidia Graphics, dual screen windowed etc and dont get any problems.

I would suggest you run a mem test first to rule out a faulty mem chip (It can happen quite easily even with new chips). Download an iso and burn to CD from here:- http://www.memtest86.com/

If the memtest comes up clean, Can you borrow a graphics card from someone or test yours in thier PC?

How old is the Phenom? Some of the original ones had a 'Erratum bug' that needed to be patched with a bios update...

Hmm.

Well I don't have someone else with an older video card, and I don't know how old the Phenom is.

Well, I just found something really strange...

I had Fallout 3 running in the background, minimized, and had Wurm running, and not once did I see a glitch.

Also. I tried this 'memtest' thingy. Burned the ISO to a CD. Rebooted with the CD in the drive, but saw nothing new as it booted.

How do you use this thing?

Depending on BIOS and BIOS settings, boot from CD/other device might be disabled, but otherwise it might pop up a menu when you hit F12 or F2 on boot-up (as it shows a logo or counts up the memory/shows CPU info and such), there might be other keys for it as well, could check your manual if you got it.
