Posted November 10, 2008 This has been suggested on kchat, and I liked it, not too sure if it's been suggested here but I'll suggest it anyway. A water well which consists of a circular stone base with a simple roof and a rope and bucket. Could require.. 8x Stone Brick 1x Rope 1x Bucket 2x Large Nails 2x Shaft It would serve exactly the same purpose as a fountain and would be placeable apon water sources located via pendulums the only real difference in this suggestion is the look, I don't know about most people here but I'd rather a medieval style well than a classical style fountain. (No I didn't draw it I googled it )
Posted November 10, 2008 i would love this idea! +1 ;D i hate the current fountain look, i would love for it to change to this, i would be thrilled!
Posted November 11, 2008 I think your requirements are way too low, should be more like... 140 x Stone bricks (most wells were a brick lined hole) 1 x Bucket 4 x 0.5kg of rope (water is a long way down after all!) 1 x shaft (for rope to run over) 2 x 20kg Logs (for the roof supports) 4 x Planks (for the roof) The one in the picture is missing the shaft just under the roof for the rope to run over to keep the bucket in the middle of the well. Was also thinking that if it was thatched, we should add 20 wheat/barley/rye or oats to requirements
Posted November 11, 2008 things in wurm magically take less materials... Do you think that a 60m high statue would only take a thousand bricks? or that a slab is only 80kg, or that one brick can pave a 4m by 4m area? Great idea. would it act as a containor, or would you active containor and rightclick fill?
Posted November 11, 2008 i would love this idea! +1 ;D i hate the current fountain look, i would love for it to change to this, i would be thrilled! +1 I like this look better, and it would make more sense of where the water comes from when a source is found... (fountains don't magically dig up water and fill themselves )
Posted November 11, 2008 I think it should fill up whith water faster then a fountain cause it goes all the way in the ground also u shouldnt be able to make a mine underneath it.
Posted November 11, 2008 Should make sure that it would be a zinc bucket. Just be cause I like it more that way.

I dont like the idea of a thatched roof but planks are fine.
Posted November 11, 2008 From the image I provided it looks like the roof is lined with lead, which would make sense as lead was and somtimes still is used alot for waterproofing. However I don't think that if this is implimented it should be too much harder to create than a fountain, it serves the same purpose just looks cuter. Posted November 11, 2008 Add the ability to poison wells with the solution being neutralising the poison with alchemy or draining the current water and letting it refill.
Posted November 11, 2008 or just change the texture and let it be the same just texture and name as fountains fill on some spots already so lets just change the texture and name and be done with it

Posted November 11, 2008 i agree with tich, wells weren't easy to make and they did use A lot of bricks depending on how deep it goes.

(fountains don't magically dig up water and fill themselves ) Water comes out from everwhere in wurm, it magically appears in caves and on dug down tiles, why not wells? Ground water (as good as in level with the sea). Wells are supposed to reach all the way down into the ground water. We don't need to do anything else other than to replace the CONTAINER fountain model with a well model (leaving the decorative type still available). At most, add some kind of shovel-related action as part of the finishing process. Such as "The well needs a hole dug" *5 min digging action*
