Posted November 4, 2008 Well today I figured out why the servers are still laggy. I happened to be sailing past my old place so I popped in to check it out. Mind you this has been abandon for months. I examened some of the stuff.... An oven 0 dmg, a coffin 10 dmg, a chest 10 dmg. Thats not all even. But what makes this of any importance is that this place has been COMPLETELY abandon for months on end. Now amagine this one town times the dozens and dozens of towns people leave when they quit. If they are quiting they wont pick them for everything they can like and active player would, thust giving us a lag source. Yes I see this as more of a problem than the blamed crops atm. Posted November 4, 2008 Ok, let me rephrase this. This stuff was in a house that NOONE could get into. Hows that for rot? And yes all the walls where still up.
Posted November 4, 2008 Maybe Rolf can allow us to clean up after ourselves. I.E. when we destroy the house using the writ, anything and everything inside gets destroyed too. (of course with a popup check to confirm we want to do it).
Posted November 4, 2008 also, we should be alloud to take apart things like chests and ovens or at least make destroying them easier. for example, we would be able to dismember a chest for all the original parts (planks, ribbons, nails, etc.) but those items would receive heavy damage from being removed, and most of them should break apart anyway so that we have less items crouding the server. there arent many easy ways to fix this problem, i think the overall blanket decay rate is a fine idea even though everyone hates it. i love it, in fact, the items of mine that dont decay fast enough are sacrificed. I'm doing my part to save the server, are you?
Posted November 4, 2008 Houses don't decay fast, if the writ holder logs on btw.. At least thats how it works for stone houses. So I guess there is lower decay applied for stuff inside of "active" houses.
Posted November 4, 2008 But 0 dmg after months of sitting there? It just seems like it should take a little more rot than that.
