Posted November 4, 2008 Bah! When i launch Wurm i get update failed! It tries to update packs(1 of 10) but never makes it. After browsing the forums for many hours, i've seen people have simular problems, with replies saying it's your router. Well i've tried to lauch Wurm directly ( with out router) and still have no luck! I've also seen replies that say you must manually download the client/packs, however when i download the files they are .zip files and not .jar files. This happened to me the first time i played aswell, but unfortunetly i can not remember what i did at that time to resolve the problem. HELP plz!
Posted November 4, 2008 Are you sure they actually are .zip files? As many compression softwares see .jars for what they really are (zip files), but with a different extension.
Posted November 4, 2008 Just rename from .zip to .jar if your downloader messes it up. The file contents aren't affected.
Posted November 4, 2008 Thanks for the responses, and ya i'm sure they are .zip files because i can extract them. By the way, just to clarify i was downloading the optional packs (base - pack9) from the wiki. I don't know what to do any more. I tried deleting Wurm and then relaunching the game, hoping that it would update, but no luck. And now i don't even have a console.log file in my Wurm folder. In fact the only file in my Wurm folder is Wurm.install. And in my packs folder i have found, notfound, optional5, and optional5.jar.tmp. It seems to me that the game launcher is just not getting any files through. Is there another place where i can download the client from?
Posted November 5, 2008 You were on the right track. * Create the packs folder in your wurm directory * Download packs into that folder * If packs are called *.zip, rename them to *.jar * Start game
Posted November 5, 2008 Ok, downloaded the packs again ( base - optional9) into my Wurm packs folder, tried to launch agian and still update failed! When i look in my packs folder and click on say base my details says it's a WinRAR ZIP archive, so i guess my question now is how do i rename it to a .jar? Posted November 5, 2008 In the explorer window, tools -> folder options -> view, uncheck "hide extensions for known file types"
