Nom nom nom! (General cooking suggestion thread) (AND Brewery!)

Recommended Posts

We all know cooking needs a well-deserved update (really simple, just new stuff to cook!)

But i personally believes it needs a whole rework. (A.K.A Meals taken out of a deed will decay in the matter of minutes, to make meals less relied on and taken absolutely everywhere, and have many "mobile" foods giving decent nutrition, but decay much slower and weigh much less, not only this but meals will "cap" on nutrition given depending on the different veggies in it, more veggies = more nutrition, aswell as if eaten with a fork activated, gives a bit more nutrition, soup with spoon, etc.)

But for now, before i megapost a rework, just plain food suggestions!

I hope dearly that now since rolf can work so much more on quick and easy updates instead of epic, he will add some suggestions!

A few suggestions already made:

Coffee; Have a chance to find coffee beans, heating them up in water = roasted beans, which can be then grinded with a grindstone into coffee powder, and mixing them with milk produces coffee, can add sugar (New growable farm type?) or something and cause it to give a boost in SB aswell as refilling thirst. scaling ql of coffee gives a very tiny amount of SB, and coffee would have a high difficulity, 99ql coffee = 5 mins SB.

Omelet: Eggs activated on frying pan -> Crack, adds a liquid "yolk" to the pan, where you use a spoon on it to "beat" the yolk, after that it forms into Omelette skin, which can be eaten now for some hunger, and little-negative nutrition, or veggies "stuffed" into it to form a full omelette, which can be eaten for a decent amount of nutrition and etc.

New veggies:

Tomatoes, Lettuce, Cabbage, etc.

keep it going people im a lazy man.

Dont know about you, but that aint how i would brew coffee.

I read a suggestion about coffee some time ago, where drinking it hot would boost your action timer, like taking off 10-20% of the timer. However, after the buff was over, you would be drained for energy and thus having a longer action timer until you were fully "intoxicated".

woops, accidently cut off like half of it while trimming unneccesary info, lemme readd it.

This is maybe a bit complicated to code but it would add some fun to the game.

Currently it's ok if you grow one kind of vegetable to keep you alive (make meal). But irl if you eat the same thing every day, you loose your appetite (lower nutition value?). So vary on vegatables/meals to keep nutrition high.

(codewise: maybe remember the last 5 meals you ate and calculate a nutrition value depending on difference of meals )

i dont get how mixing beans with milk would roast them though (maple sap turns into syrup without another ingredient)...

replace milk with water and maybe i can follow where you are going with this suggestion  :-\

...and too much milk here if i didnt mention it yet.

I would love to see some new meals.  Would be great if they did different things.  I do not agree with meals decaying even faster than they do now though.  Just because I decide to go hunting does not mean that I shouldn't be able to eat at least for a little while before the meal needs to be thrown away.

That's what campfires are for. However, iron pans are a pretty heavy addition to a backpacker. I'd like to see the inclusion of a lighter, pan made from tin for backpacking excursions. Very light weight but takes more damage on use.

On top of that a few more cooking options would be nice. More options for cooked foods with a slower decay rates, but less nutritional value than home-cooked hot meals.

Also still hoping for rice to be added to the game.
