Combat knife/Dagger

Recommended Posts

It seems odd knives have special moves, and thus are considered weapons (even so via weaponsmithing)

but there's no ACTUAL weapon, for the knives skill.

Something that does minor stabbing damage, but 2s attack timer (or 1s) and deals a bit more damage to plate then other weapons do.

Sneak attacks deal even more Dmg then a normal crit

And scales off bc for damage instead of str

Always struck me as something Rolf planned to do as he wrote up the skill system, then forgot about when adding weapons to the game.

+1, would be nice to have a "Back" targeting area for this weapon too.

Also stealth attacks, if you're in stealth mode and target someone you will have a chance to do massive damage in 1 hit then unstealth.

+1 to original idea and this quote. Knives need love. Giving them a nice little stealth attack would make sense and be cool too.

Daggers are very effective against people in plate armour. But only if he was unable to defend himself.

Sneak attacks vs. Platemail = Super effective

You could stab em in between armor pieces for a quick kill. But you would need to make so while steathed, they don't see the "X tries to cut you!" message till after 1 hit.

You can also punch while holding a knife, and they're pretty easy to aim.

Slash attacks should rarely do damage to armored foes (rarely as in sometimes you will hit inbetween the armor. And stab attacks should do a lot of damage when it hits the stomach area (the lack of bones in that area means the knife can damage a lot of vital organs before hitting something hard) and pierce through armor (doing a lot of damage to chain as it breaks the links).

Because they're so light they normally get stuck in the target making it easy for the target to get you closer while you're technically unarmed and deal a lot of damage.

Knives are 100% ineffective vs chain, so no go on that please.  But between plate joints -  yes.

Edit:  Should also use BC for calculating damage.  Not str.

If someone with a dagger meets a person with a two handed weapon/ a strong person with a 1h

the two handed/1h could easily chop through the person, since it would almost be impossible to parry with such a small weapon

& stabbing with a dagger against plate armor isn't that effective.. chainmail however is alot weaker against stabs

with enough skill it could be pretty easy to parry and counter using a small weapon

Obligatory bump because it's essential for rogues to happen.

forgot to point this out, with stabs, due to the holes on chain its pretty easy to get through, cuts and the like are weak vs chain with a dagger since its not strong enough usually to break the chains.

stabs work well vs plate and chain.
