Recommended Posts

Hi, i know that it would probably take a lot of time you dont have, but is there any chance you would make and start to sell also an offline singleplayer version of wurm?

thank you

This question is asked every 2-4 weeks it seems. The answer is always a resounding "NO!".

the strength of the game lies in the community. I dont think this game would be half as fun as single player game.

I think Minecraft has a singleplayer version?

If not, buy an Iphone/Ipad and play Angry Birds while travelling.

I can't imagine this game would work at all in a single player version, even if Rolf had the time to make one.

Nothing you can do about the internet-less pt rides, but if you're a freedomer I highly recommend giving wild a chance. It is far, FAR less crowded than freedom. There are parts of wild where it's unlikely you'll run into anyone for months if you set up there. If you do come over and you're looking for a spot, I can point some out.

I think what I'm trying to say is that it is entirely possible to live on wild and never see a bit of pvp. However, if you're that set against it (and I wish people weren't, we really need more people on wild) then enjoy the crowds and quit complaining :P

Oh wow, real mature. You wonder why the "jump into random threads and recruit people" fails? Attitude.

[o]Ignore their posts.

[o]Don't even feel them out to find out if they like PvP.

[o]Lie to them the PvP server is actually completely safe (even though it isn't and shouldn't be).

[o]Fail to recruit them to Wild.

[o]Tell them to shut up.

Well Parts of wild you wont see an enemy as long as you stay there.

I have gone 8 months without seeing an enemy in local one time.

Yea, it shouldnt be, but thats how rolf made the game.

Though some parts of wild really are safe, why would someone go to wild to live in complete safety?

And yeah, I have to agree with othob.

this game offline is just a big wtf

that someone could actually even want to play that confuses the hell out of me

and if overcrowdedness is your problem, pay for premium and go to server with less ppl

Single player sort of sounds fun but at the same time it would get boring after a month or so.

If you want a game like Wurm I'd suggest minecraft, it has single player. It's just a little blockish. ;P

I do that because I want to feel that although I'm not directly fighting, the things I am doing are for the good of the kingdom, there's more purpose behind my actions. OK, so I've not done much as of yet, but my tower and deed have helped spread MR influence, and I'm getting to the point where I might be able to make useful stuff with my skills. It's also less crowded and MUCH more peaceful than Freedom. I've never seen an enemy in local, let alone any PvP.

You should try playing Harvest Moon, or The Sims. I doubt wurm will ever get a single player version, the point of an MMO game is to interact with others. :)

Also regarding the Wild matters:

I emailed Rolf a couple of months back about the possibility of him selling a version of the server software so people could run private servers along the lines of Minecraft, he said maybe but not in the foreseeable future.

I think it would be interesting, especially if we had the ability adjust things like skill gain rate, action timer, day/night cycle, etc.

It would be a big change to the community because some people would leave to play on their own servers, but it could also bring a lot more attention to Wurm.  If there was some advantage to playing on the official servers (maybe the private server software is a few versions behind official, or private server software doesn't contain any of the economy code) it could end up increasing the official servers' populations.

I dont see the point and you answered my most immediate objectional thought yourself. It would splinter the community.

I've seen this before in something or other and what mostly happened was that people adjust the server parameters to make things ridiculously easy. The people playing on the splinter servers got to the 'end game' and were then so bored of it that they had no interest in the 'main' server.
