OK, the most anticipated game ever releases today.

Anyone have a first impression? It's EA, so I want recommendations before I fork out $49.95

The game play is extremely simple. Tribal stage and civilization stage are just pathetic. It doesn't have a lot of freedom and is just so repetitive. A lot of the interesting ideas the game had originally seemed to not have made it in.

The cell stage was pretty exciting.

In creature stage, you have a nest the spawns you an unlimited number of your species. Food is located everywhere and there isn't a penalty for death.

Tribal stage doesn't have customizable buildings. There's only about 4 buildings you would actually need and the strategy is way too simple. Its over quite quickly though.

Civilization stage you get to design just ONE land vehicle, water vehicle, and air vehicle.(you can have 3 of each of the unit types if you have 3 different city types though)  Its just so repetitive. Your cities are only customized by 3 different buildings.

I thought space stage would allow me to make my own planets the way I wanted... But to populate a planet you just drop one animal or plant on the planet and they seem to appear everywhere.  Each planet has to have the same animal ratio... 2 herbivores and a carnivore for each T-level of the planet(T1 to T3)... Any more species of either and the new species just falls over dead instantly.. You don't get to watch the carnivores overeat the herbivores or have any effect on the populations.

The fun in this game is the editors...So its great if you just want to make things.  You are pretty much limited only by your imagination.

It's EA, what do you expect. (that's a bad thing) Just like every game ever announced at an E3 promising amazing features and showing off pre-rendered CGI... it turned out to be mediocre at best. The game is impressive, but not new in any way whatsoever. I hate EA, so I'd say don't buy it. But if you're an RTS player and appreciate and/or are interested in this type of thing, go for it. Do note that the space stage is annoying as hell :P

Thats kinda what i expected, sadly :( I hope there will be some good mods to make it complex and realistic.

It was fun meeting your previous species again, but the game generally seemed unfinished.

The fun part pretty much stopped when you entered tribal mode.

Bad things:

EA published it

EA told them to make a few changes

It's been so hyped over the years loads of changes have been made.

Once you start tribal stage you go into RTS mode which is a change after being in 3rd person for a bit

no penis monsters

Good things:

It's spore, its still great.

I got to play it 2 days before it came out in the USA (<3 piratebay)

EA took it over, gave them a deadline, ripped the freedom, replayability and some of the good bits out, as well as made everybody's life a misery with the "3 installs only" in an attempt to stop piracy which is bull . because the game was cracked anyhow 3 days before US Release.

But overall, it's just an expanded Creature Creator thanks to EA's moneygrubbing CEO wanting a quick cash cow and an alternative to The Sims.

Game over.

I win.

Now to find "The third rock from Sol" as the little ship piloted by "Steve" at the center of the galaxy told me to.

Earth, here I come.

Not mine, but heres a vid:

X-fire deleted mine before I could get it working.

Did you have to ruin the entire game for us? :'(

Thats all thats at the center? God thats boring  :-\ .

Also to the guy who soloed a Epic (1000HP monster guy thing), how did you do it? I had maxed out brain and tried max charge, bite, strike and it just about killed me and my three other buddys and we only did around 30-35ish damage. It only needed to hit us once and it just about killed us (left us with 1 health).

Whats this 3 installs thing? So you can install a legally bought version of spore only 3 times before it gets useless and youd have to "buy" it again?

On the bright side, I found a system called "Penia" - we all know thats a typo.

Anyone willing to help my Earth hunting cause, give me a yelp.

I leave pirates, all they do is steal spice.

Also, quest for Sol is over :D

Woo, glad I dissected a Spore video at a NASA convention.

ED: Now I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do in Spore, except start again, get the last few badges/unlocks, or expand my empire so I get to babysit even more useless space.

Fun.

My brother got it, and I've watched him play it. It looks quite fun.

Swimming around; picking on other bacteria (and huuuuge ones :o!) and then growing legs and starting an island. Making your civilisation, start attacking and etc.

Pretty cool :D

If you install it three times, you have to call up EA tech support and have them reset the counter.

EA took it over, gave them a deadline...
Yes, 8 years is totally an unacceptable deadline.

<3 Spore

Bought it, Love it, play it, love it some more, think about it, touch it, etc.

I keep hearing this blabber about the game being to simple and too easy...

it was made to be a relaxing game... wtf do u expect? people sure are ignorant towards spore.

Went carnivore 100%, killed everything, had a blast, now trying the diplomacy way.

The fact that the difficulty levels do literally jack all is one reason its too easy.

It just makes it take 6 hours to get to space instead of 3.

So much for the development of your creature aswel, as soon as you hit space age, all you do is fly around in a spacecraft.

Space age is broken, I shouldn't need to explain why, but I will if you want to read a wall of text.

The game can be "completely" finished in under 6 hours. I don't see how that can be good.

I don't count babysitting allies and more useless space as something to keep the game going.
