Posted April 21, 2011 Hey guys, I'm back, got a new OS (ubuntu 10.10) and Wurm is working- kinda. Edit: I may not have been clear enough, but I have downloaded the game and managed to get it running to the point of trying to connect to the server. But I have only managed this once, seeing as I don't know how to start the game again. I'd add my consol.log but I don't think you guys need it for this problem
Posted April 23, 2011 make sure you got the Sun JRE installed (package sun-java6-jre), then run javaws http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp You will also need to install the proper graphics drivers for your gfx card, if you didn't do that already. I'm not exactly sure what the problem is so more info might be useful.
Posted April 23, 2011 I don't know where the wurm.client shortcut is or even the long way to launch it
Posted April 23, 2011 Have a look around the forums, there have been quite a few posts about getting Wurm to work on Linux. If these don't work then please post your console.log so we know what settings could be causing an issue.
Posted April 24, 2011 None of you are reading my posts. I have it working I can't find the launcher!!!
Posted April 24, 2011 To launch the client directly you can use this link: http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp
Posted April 24, 2011 the .jnlp file isn't working, I've tried it before. but I think my sunjava file has been infected, I'll have to whipe my drive again (so far its only got wurm and sunjava) and download from a new source I'll start a new thread if I'm still having problems. Thanks for trying
Posted April 24, 2011 try to open a console and type "javaws http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient.jnlp" you can list (and set) what JVM you use with update-alternatives --list java that also works for java web start: update-alternatives --list javaws It might just be that the jnlp file type isn't associated with the javaws application in your browser.
