multiple javaw.exe using resources even after exiting game

I posted this under the "Overheating CPU" thread but since this might also be a client bug that should be reported here, so I'll repost the details:

I had a similar issue I recently seem to have resolved, I'll give the details in case it helps anyone else.

In my case, my Core 2 Duo was quickly hitting 83C ingame, never any higher so I suspected my freezing/lag was because the processor was throttling back or something at high temps. Even turning down all graphic details to minimal wouldn't help. No other game was doing this. I have Win7 64-bit and using the unstable client, and tried also updating java etc.

I noticed after a while that in task manager, I would often have multiple instances of javaw.exe running, and maxxing out my two cpus at 100%. Apparently the client was not closing gracefully on me logging out of the game, and somehow still also using cpu cycles (even though it might drop to 0% when running the game and minimizing the client). Sometimes I had played Wurm multiple times in the day, I would even get a third javaw.exe stuck open under task manager, and the game would be unplayable, with my cpu usage stick at 100% for both cores even after I was not running the game at all. At that stage I could barely even use the computer for normal web browsing etc, and would have to reboot.

Now whenever I log out of the game, I open task manager and make sure all javaw.exe processes are forced closed, and that seems to have solved my constant cpu overheating issues also, as well as the unplayable freeze spokes I had ingame.

Not sure if this is something the people working on unstable client can check into. or if anyone else except me gets multiple javaw.exe staying open and using cpu even after logging out of the game.

I started having this problem as well with using the unstable, tho it was much more annoying on my quad core processor having 4 javaw.exe's running at the same time using all the cpu available, yet to figure out how to fix this apart from using the task manager to end each process, tho this has happened while ive been playing the game as well and had to quit the game, remove the .exe's and reload and hope

I've noticed this too on my laptop with win7. Never notice it on my tower (32bit), running XP, though. I haven't used the normal client in ages, so I can't say if it happens with that too, but it definitely does w/ the unstable.

This just started happening to me yesterday :/. Only way out is task manager. I use windows 7 and unstable.

Having same problem. Windows 7, unstable client, Java 6 Update 24.

Everytime i close a account (Main menu, quit) a process keeps running in the background eating CPU. Have to kill it with tasksmanager.

I wasn't able to reproduce this bug. Could you please post a console.log when this bug occurs? Like exit the client, notice the process got stuck and then post exactly the console.log of that wurm session. Thank you.

Javaw.exe I assume is Wurmonline as it is only present when Wurm is ran, issue is every time Wurm is ran it leaves behind the javaw.exe process. It can temporarily be nulled by ending the process, but these leftovers will causes instability in wurm if it is closed and opened repeatedly.
