So whats the argument here?  Why not try and evolve Wild into a more active server instead of keeping to the traditional idea that "changes are bad"

Dev intervention is bad and this change is just that masked behind "progress"

I rather have the artifacts on a time base system so they will be used since "they have a chance to get them again"

Also might want to add area history of when they are loss like they are found so everyone has equal chance to find them once they return to Wurm

First off i am 100% against resetting the artifacts without adding these changes, perhaps for the first respawn the artifacts are respawned in just over 2-3 months time giving time to prepare, however only 1 artifact is respawned at a certain time designated before hand but not the item itself? which would make for a very interesting rush for the artifacts. each artifact is respawned to cover different time zones (so start at gmt-12 and then gmt-10 etc to gmt+12)

Artifacts are instantly reset upon the bearer dying. There is a maximum time limit that the artifacts are used and so lose quality of 2ql per week giving the maximum time to be held of about a year. weapons are unaffected by quality (for obvious reasons) and are given a hidden quality effectiveness of 90ql.

Give the non-combat artifacts a certain number of uses, for example when located and found the artifact is 99ql and for use the artifact loses 0.50 quality giving the items 198 uses which should last a while, which makes them worth searching for.

*needs an improved use, perhaps being able to spawn a random vein of 99ql (uses 5ql per use) ores inside vein of at least 15,000?

**changes to glass orb of doom, causes instant death to people in the area, however the artifact is instantly reset. uses a 15-20 second timer

Combat artifacts need to be either permantly enchanted with an equivalant woa/coc or botd cast of 90+ to match current enchants of the new system and give all weapons^ a damage bonus of perhaps x2 damage multiplier that CAN stack with meditation of rage and kingdom bonuses. The defensive items have a naturally high block rate.

just my 2cents for now

but i will add an dea of Mr B.s that seemed very interesting on adding cripts where the artifacts are respawned but thats his idea if he wants to post

People will have a chance to get them again if they are pretty much forced to be used in PvP. A time system will do nothing other than as Ecrir said, "If you let artifacts reset after some time then it makes it pointless to try to raid a village in order to get it's artifacts, if you can just wait a bit till they respawn."

It will encourage more PvP and if you kill someone with an artifact, that's better than digging it up somewhere in the dirt only having it to be reset two months later.

Here's a list of suggestions on how the artifacts can be improved or how they can be changed:

Vynora

        * Glass Eye of Vynora - Currently it just casts Locate Artifact every 3 hours. Totally useless once all the artifacts have been found. Could change it to be able to cast Locate Soul with a cooldown 30 minutes?

        * Glass Mouth of Vynora - I think this basically casts 'Refresh' on a player and gives them stamina. Pretty useless for an artifact. Since Vynora is the god of wisdom and knowledge could make it give a player 1 hour sleep bonus with a cooldown of 3 hours.

        * Glass Ear of Vynora - This drops gems, salt, flint and random things once every 3 hours. Most of the time the gems are <10 quality. Completely useless. Why not make it drop only 70+ quality gems every time its used?

Fo

        * Silver Finger of Fo - Currently this can be used by the one holding it and it heals all their wounds every 3 hours. Holding this item in inventory whilst outside of an allied village perimeter could give the entire kingdom an effective 20+ in first aid and applying healing covers success rate. If The Finger is dropped or the holder enter a perimeter the bonus is lost.

        * Gold Rod of Beguiling - I think currently this just casts bless every 3 hours? Really useless. Why not make it so if this is used on another player or on ones self it gives the target immunity from aggressive animals for 3 hours? Just like the Fo high faith bonus? Thats not the best idea I can think of but its something that could be subject to change.

        * Gold Charm of Fo - Currently this tames an animal every 3 hours. Maybe change it so if you have this artifact on you and you are out of perimeter of an allied village you can have two pets?

Magranon

        * Gold Crown of Might - Currently this can be used to dominate monsters. But it's been nerfed over time after its being used to dominate a dragon. There is now a timer and a failure rate. Why not make this item work like a steel great helm but when worn outside of an allied village perimeter it gives the whole kingdom a bonus in combat rating. How much though i am not sure.

        * Steel Sword of Magranon - Currently this doesnt do anything special. It's just a 90 quality 2 handed sword. Swords have been made that perform better than this sword. First of all it should have effective like 200 Flaming Aura enchant on it. Secondly, it should be far far FAR more powerful than any sword that players could craft. This is a sword of the gods remember. Maybe the one using it in combat gets a combat rating boost. Only a small one however.

        * Bronze Hammer of Magranon - I think this has the same sort of story as the steel sword of magranon. The same should apply to this. 200 effective Flaming Aura, far more powerful than any weapon a player could create etc etc.

Libila

        * Glass Orb of Doom - This works fine as it is. But it can only be used in certain, rare situations. So it wont be often used.

        * Steel Sceptre of Ascension - See: Steel sword of Magranon/Bronze Hammer of Magranon except this one would have 200 effective Rotting Touch instead of Flaming Aura.

        * Iron Scale of Libila - This should be an ultimate shield. One that cannot be compared to even the greatest shieldsmith's greatest creation.

Maybe to prevent the non-pvp artifacts from resetting you need to recharge them at WL/BL. More reason to fight over control of lights. And make it so that recharging has a ridiculous casting time like 30 minutes and when starting to recharge it gives server wide message.

I mean Sentient artifacts! Thats great think of all the cool things they could come up with! Stop being a scrooge guys and let your own personal current benefit not be the deciding factor in adding fun and excitement to the server!

+1 to random respawns

+1 to sentient artifacts

Let them exercise there will!

Random respawns were the arifacts choose their owner randomly. Then they respawn after a random time. A year is waaaaay to long, thats boring, liven it up let them choose their owners then w/e is blessed with it has an unknown time to use it and have fun, since you dont know how long you have it your going to use it.

The ear doesn't really give gems. It gives a gem, flint, salt, or anaconda and most of the time you fail and produce absolutely nothing. The artifacts for the most part are completely useless just remove them.

The idea is to keep artifacts from being housed up in once place forever and to stimulate more activity on wild

If you use a decay system by use then they will simply be used until they get low then sit on deed or in a vault. - so that wont work

Artifacts should not decay but instead manifest itself as its own entity and will return to wurm every so often to be found by another

The idea without a 30 minute timer would be good enough in itself.

IT would give a reason to control the lights, every X amount of time the artifacts and an army would need to go down to protect and recharge the artifacts. A normal 30 second - 1 minute timer would be good enough, as the artifacts would have to come off deed, out into the open in order to be charged.

And the minute one side has an unbreakable grip on a light all hell breaks loose and the wine emails start.

Let the arties randomly choose there owner and get a random time before they respawn, its always different , its always fun.
