Posted September 26, 2011 only issue i have now is i cant stretch skew fences (make them look right on slopes) maybe need pro version to achive that? The way I always did it was sticking up flat fences with the fence texture, then skewing the texture with the texture tool. Never saw the need for 3D fences since you normally don't model tile borders anyway.
Posted September 27, 2011 I stuck to my word, and here is Ashenheim in all its future glory: Right now it's but a shadow of the plan I show you above, but one day... One day... (and many, many trees later) Also, please excuse the horribly angled fences, it was as good as I could be bothered doing as best I could do with the time I had. Posted November 5, 2011 Heya guys... i also started to plan our deed with Google Sketchup.. and i'm amazed how easy it is 8) There is still a lot more to add (i want some trees in the sketch for example) Also i'll have to enlarge the model to add the plans of a huge dirt fortress (kinda like the one Stabius posted, just with 2tile wide walls so flattraising is easier ;D ) posting screens and the file too if someone is interested Sketchup-file (can't upload it to Google 3D-Galery, already too big > )
Posted November 6, 2011 I think someone should do a youtube video specifically for making map designs in Wurm. I know there are tutorials for other sketchup stuff, but I think it'd be good if someone made one specifically for Wurm.
Posted November 6, 2011 i agree, when i first started i looked on youtube for wurm specific tutorials but couldnt find 1, i managed to work it out but could have saved me alot of time i might do a few myself at somepoint when im not busy
Posted April 4, 2012 Used to use SketchUp years ago before Google bought it. Here's the start of my deed
Posted April 5, 2012 Where did you get those tree models? I didn't think there were any available.
Posted April 5, 2012 anyone care to make a new guide for the new google sketchup thats easy to follow?
Posted April 5, 2012 Also, if possible, would someone (Zekezor?) explain how to extract the new models from the graphics.jar files and import them into SketchUp? They're changing all the time, and it would be heavenly to be able to update the models to reflect the current graphical improvements. Also saves us from asking that they be updated constantly
Posted April 5, 2012 1) open Graphic.jar with winrar and extract all content 2) import the models/textures into 3ds max (you may have to poke around a bit to make it work) 3) save it in the google sketchup format 4) enjoy

Posted April 7, 2012 How do you guys get your slopes so perfect?
Posted April 9, 2012 How do you guys get your slopes so perfect? We've assumed that 0.1 meters in Sketchup equals 1 dirt in Wurm when manipulating corners. It probably isn't entirely correct but it seems accurate enough. While manipulating slopes with the Move tool, you can hit numeric keys and hit Enter to specify exactly how far you want to raise/lower the tile corners. Also, it's usually faster to copy/paste slopes you've already made rather than create new ones all the time.

Posted May 31, 2012 That's 16 million tiles, and would be about 370GB saved, unless my math is way off. It'd be pretty cool to make a 3d map of the server, but I doubt you could do it in Sketchup. Thanks for the info here, guys. I'm currently mapping my deed and the immediate area while I figure this thing out. I'll post some pictures when it's done, but it's nothing spectacular.I have software that can do this stuff. I used to model entire cities in 3d many years ago ie: chicago etc.. But we had airplanes go lidar the city from in the air for data collection. The problem is not in making the map, the software models it in minutes. The problem is acquiring all the raw data. And as to the 370gb reference that isn't right. Back when deli opened I made a point grid with the 4.2 million points and it was only 30mb. so x4 the size on that to get 16 mil and you are still only 120mb which is absolutely nothing in the mapping world which normally uses multi-gig and terrabyte level data. You just need software that is made for that kind of work. I never used sketchup but doubt it could do anything on this scale.
Posted January 12, 2013 I'm having a hard time importing any of the Wurm's player models into SketchUp. They are saved as .xsi files in the .jar. In fact, there are a lot of .xsi files in there that I don't know how to import. I've found out that the .xsi files can only be opened with Autodesk's SoftImage program. I tried downloading it, importing the .xsi and then exporting it as a .dae file so that SketchUp can read it, but it fails on importing the .dae file.Has anyone had any luck with these?(And are we allowed to do this or am I breaking rules here?) Posted March 12, 2013 Has anyone created any model/graphics packs that are relatively up to date? Multistory houses and some of the new floor types and decorations, basically. I'd be really interested in having those to play around with in Sketchup.
