Here's the first release of the LWJGL-only client. It will not be the last, so use this opportunity to help improve it.

Unstable client [3.0.0-2900] at http://www.wurmonline.com/client/wurmclient_unstable.jnlp

The test client goes to the test server, the unstable client connects to the main servers. These clients will have bugs, crashes and bad performance. Do not use the unstable client if you have anything to lose.


Changes in 3.0.0-2832

* Direct LWJGL is now the only renderer, replacing JOGL and indirect LWJGL.

* Some JOGL-specific options have been removed.

* Don't crash if time goes backwards while hovering an object.

* Simplify the display option widgets.

* Upgrade to LWJGL 2.6.

* Minor IRC improvements.

* Added option to enable vsync.

* Added 'resize' console command to resize the window.

* Bugfix: Fight window didn't stay where it should be.

* New window icons.

* Support for binding mouse buttons (apart from LMB and RMB).

* Use pbuffers for offscreen rendering if FBO is not available. This makes it possible to use terrain and reflection textures larger than the window, should you want to.

* BUTCHER and BURY keybinds.

* Add options window for changing options without going via the console.

* Start the game a little faster.

* Add some more tooltips.

* Add a bunch of context menu options for the chat windows.

* "Toggle spacing" option for fight window.

* Option to mark text as read in the chat windows.

* Magical object rotational changes from Wollschaf.

This means that creatures now rotate in a way that makes them not poke their heads into terrain anymore (most of the time). Hitched animals don't hang in the air or get pushed into the terrain. Carts behave like carts would and not like a magical carpet that looks like a cart.

Now wurm looks weird in a different way. Enjoy :)

* Vsync is now changeable in the game settings.

* Less smoke in caves.

* Client will now submit anonymized game settings and general system info to the server so we can get more reliable info than low-response, unrepresentative forum polls. The client will ask before submitting, but we hope as many as possible will say yes.

* The selected tab will now blink on activity if the tab group is minimized.

* Make submit data actually submit data.

* New capability detection code. This one should actually work, which is good news for Intel users. The client will ask to reset the compat settings (again). It should be safe this time, so go for it.

Changes in 3.0.0-2900

* Celebrated too early, the Intel drivers found a second way to crash. Added back the big scary warning.

We used lwjgl 2.4.2 so far.

* Magical object rotational changes from Wollschaf.

This means that creatures now rotate in a way that makes them not poke their heads into terrain anymore (most of the time). Hitched animals don't hang in the air or get pushed into the terrain. Carts behave like carts would and not like a magical carpet that looks like a cart.

Now wurm looks weird in a different way. Enjoy :)

Unexpected crash while playing The error was: <Number of remaining buffer elements is 1, must be at least 4>

It's possible you might figure out what's wrong from the log file below, but if you can't, post the full log on the wurm online forums, and someone else might be able to help you.

Usage: resize (fullscreen|maximized|windowed) width height [refresh rate]

- Maximized is still not what one would expect ;)

- a maximized windowed mode is not possible anymore

On a Mac here, Macbook Pro.  10.5.8 OS X.

I open up the wurmclient_test.jnlp, it appears on my dock, then exits.  I never even get to the login screen.

We used lwjgl 2.4.2 so far.

* Magical object rotational changes from Wollschaf.

This means that creatures now rotate in a way that makes them not poke their heads into terrain anymore (most of the time). Hitched animals don't hang in the air or get pushed into the terrain. Carts behave like carts would and not like a magical carpet that looks like a cart.

Now wurm looks weird in a different way. Enjoy :)

I tried login and it worked fine.

The frame limiter value was ignored I set it to 90 and it was limited to 60.

I expected to be able to resize window but could not and resolution and many other settings in new option window was frozen.

Only the options you can change normally in game (using setoption) are available to change in the new options window afaik. No doubt they'll either add the functionality later or remove then unchangable options.

You have to use the console command to change window size atm.

Angle of cart with a hitched animal should be worked out by finding the number that is half way inbetween the angle the horse is on and the angle the cart is. Otherwise the corresponding angles do not look right.

Example:

Horse Tile Angle = 20 Degrees, Cart Tile Angle = 0 Degrees.

Half way inbetween 20 and 0 is 10. So cart angle should be 10 degrees.

Angled thingies are nice.  constant 56-60 fps which is good.  Hopefully the ability to play in a true windowed maximized screen comes soon?

Also, new to the test server so not sure, when fighting things are you supposed to be getting things like this:

What about items like that decorative bench?  It's like half-way on the flat tile and half on the slope.  Will it just go through the sloped dirt, or be on an angle?

I forgot to mention that the vsync option is enabled by default, which overrides frame limiter values above your screen refresh rate.

Normal items are still behaving in the old way. This just affects animals and carts (for now, I hope).

awesome that you can copy text someone says.

now i do this: i copy my own text, then copy that, then copy that etc

as you do it more and more and rightclick your text (where you get option to do something with that name, you get that option more and more times as you copy your own text and less again sometimes for some reason

if you dont understand me, ill make a screen but basicly
