Game crashes or random closing

Game crashes randomly during play on 64 bit systems

Make sure you are using 64 bit Java. If you're using a 32 bit webbrowser, this is likely the case. See this thread for more information: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/82478-installing-java-recent-crashes-out-of-memory/

Game crashes on startup without error with Intel graphics chip

This is caused by a graphics driver bug, try updating them. If that doesn't work, disable VBO in the compatibility tab. This will reduce performance however.

Game closes without error while loading on 64bit Windows with Intel graphics chip
Make sure you have 64bit Java installed.

Game crashes on startup without error with ATI graphics card
Either one or a combination of those:
* Use the 10.8 drivers and disable the catalyst AI.
* Set driver quality controls to "best performance" in the driver control panel.
* Reduce maximum texture size (megatextures) in the advanced graphics tab.

* If you still have issues after the above, see this thread: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/52087-ati-issues-and-ways-to-fix/

Game crashes randomly during play without error with ATI graphics card

Upgrade your ATI drivers. 9.4 to 9.10 drivers are usually the cause of this.

Client crashes with pop-up errror: Congratulations, you found a bug in the test client: <Unable to load texture data from graphics.jar:somefile>

In the patcher, select 'pack updates' and select 'verify all packs' on the bottom of the screen.

Client crashes on start up with error: Could not create window with selected width and height

You are using the standard windows graphics drivers, which are not capable of OpenGL. You need to install the graphics drivers from the manufacturer's website.

Client crashes with error: <no lwjgl in java.library.path>

Type this command in the windows search prompt: javaws -viewer

This should open the Java cache viewer. Delete all versions of Wurm you have there, and re-install Wurm from the website

Performance/fps issues
Extremely poor performance on certain high-end systems
Disable GLSL in compatibility tab. Please also make a bug report post with your console.log

Choppy animations on Intel multicore with Windows 7 or 8

Launcher or patching issues

Launcher crashes on startup and gives a security error

http://forum.wurmonl...icate-solution/

Launcher hangs during download and you have AVG installed
Disable AVG during installation. You can enable it afterwards.
AVG seem to have fixed this in the latest program version (build 2221)

The graphics are updating but stop with the error: class.lY: Could not copy graphics.jar to graphics.jar.bak

Close any clients that you still have open. If it still occurs when all clients are closed, open the task manager and close any javaw.exe processes. If it still occurs after that, restart your system.

Installing Wurm with a bad connection

http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/7989-how-to-install-the-wurm-client-with-a-bad-connection/

Unable to connect to patch server [update failed! (Error: No packs selected, something is wrong.) "java.net.UnknownHostException: updates.wurmonline.com" or "Connection to patch server failed, falling back to Coral"]

This is a routing issue between your ISP and the patch server and not something WurmOnline can resolve, you must either manually route your connection (see spoiler below) or wait for your ISP to update things on their end (this will usually be complete within 24 hours).

This may help

open the Host file and paste this     "* updates.wurmonline.com"    - to it and save it, close it and go enjoy wurm!

*insert relevant IP from: http://tracert.com/resolver

Replace with original file after a few days once ISP has caught up as otherwise you might have difficulties in the future.

Graphics issues
Textures are messed up (example pic: http://i48.tinypic.com/21nr49i.jpg

Use the 10.8 ATI drivers or above. 10.5 to 10.7 drivers are the cause of this.

Some models are invisible

This issue is still being worked on. As a workaround, you can disable GLSL in the compatibility tab of settings. This will reduce performance and disable certain graphical features however.

Terrain is red with an Intel graphics chip

This is a driver issue that cannot be worked around. Try updating the drivers if possible.

Various

You only see water during login, and cannot interact or move within the world

This is a symptom of connection issues. Restart any routers/modems and troubleshoot your connection to the server.

Mouse glitches on Windows 8.1

As a workaround, you will need to add a registry key for javaw.exe. Read this MS support article for further details: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2908279/en-us

Unable to select items or fences while using ATI graphics

14.1 Catalyst drivers are the cause of this, update your drivers

If you still have issues despite all above

If the game still crashes follow the instructions here: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/9223-how-to-handle-different-types-of-crashes/
