But you can atleast give message to villagers by writing to the message of the day in deed's manage settings.

Because suggestions don't always wind up in the game as the EXACT suggestion, it's a process. plenty of things that come into the game start as a suggestion that's then refined and implemented, motd is one of those.

I was getting so confused reading the first page of this until I realized its from 14 years ago.

 

That said I agree having chat commands to set this might be nice.
