How do I get a ship from a different server?

Recommended Posts

My memory must be rusty in how something complex like this works. I'm on Release with my Knarr, but need to also obtain my Caravel from a deed on Xanadu; a deed I'm not a citizen of, but have got access to. What are my options to getting it, without having to have an alt steer a ship, while I steer the other? that would be a nightmare

Boat towing was removed in 2008 (or early 2009, not entirely sure), so unless you have an alt to bring with you your only option would be to have another person help you out.

Aeris' responses are likely your best bet, but additionally you could use the portal to go to Xanadu, then make your way to the deed, either someone local could summon you or you risk it on foot/wild mount.

You can also make a disposable canoe, shouldn't take more than 5 minutes.

I agree with Cista's suggestion.  If you're currently on your home deed on one server, and need to get a ship from a different server *in the same cluster*, crafting a crude canoe is very easy to do, even at low skill, and can be rowed across using the plot course command on the crude canoe to get to the server you want, then row it over to where you ship on that server is docked and dispose of the crude canoe there and sail your good ship back.

The crude canoes are relatively new code to Wurm Online, easy to craft, and decay even on deed, created so lower-level characters have a way to cross water between different bodies of land to settle in faster and explore.

They certainly should be considered disposable as they can't last a very long time to be a primary boat/ship.

I'd only recommend traversing Xanadu in a canoe to someone I hate so violently that I want them to die from boredom

The key to less travel time on Xanadu is to do the 'plot course' and move to the edge of your current server that would lead to the edge of Xanadu that's closest to your Xanadu deed/ship when you cross.

I did this many times on Independance to cross to the opposite side by using a small server as an intermediary which took much less time to cross.
