After the Great Santa Factory Mishap of 2023, yet another disaster has fallen on Santa’s complex on the North Pole!

 

Polar trolls have bashed into the stables, and almost all of Santa’s reindeers have escaped! He needs help tracking them down to make sure all of this year’s gifts get delivered!

 

This year’s Christmas event runs from December 21st, 12:00 CET (noon) until January 11th, 12:00.

 

You can now find tiny bells through foraging, botanizing, chopping down trees, digging and mining.
A tiny bell can be combined with any vegetable to create reindeer food - you need to feed it to one of the reindeers found all over the world of Wurm to help Santa find and recover it.

Tiny bells can also be hung from walls as decorations.

 

You can track your progress through missions, divided into three stages:

• Recover 2 reindeer - Santa will reward you with a star lamp, a new decorative item that can be hung from a ceiling
• Recover 5 more reindeer - get a figurine of Santa
• Repeating missions that require you to recover an increasing amount of reindeer, granting you one of the new or old Christmas gifts

 

You can also find four new wooden snowflake decorations through archaeology. The snowflakes can be hung from ceilings.

 

 

Gears, valves and pipes that were part of last year’s event, have also been added to archaeology as decorative items that you can find.

 

Like last year, we’ll be running a 10% skillgain and affinity bonus through the entire event.

With absolutely no intended disrespect or lack of gratitude for the event, will the reindeer spawns be sufficient on NFI? I live on Harmony and there's never anything to kill and it's already a miserable experience trying to hunt anything. I usually go to SFI to hunt now but I can't take anything home with me besides the skill which sucks.

 

We only have 3 servers on NFI but half of the Wurm population give or take. That means we're going to have a lot more people with a lot less area to look for reindeer. Has this been taken into account? I would like this event to be fair for NFI players.

The reindeer spawning mechanics are separate from the normal creature spawns, and we have a way to tweak it while the event is running, in case there's not enough.

Very excited to experience my first Christmas in Wurm!  I was wondering if it's possible to get a list of all the possible items to collect during the event including both new and old items?  If I remember correctly there was a list like this in the Halloween event thread and it helped me to make sure I collected everything possible.  Thank you for your hard work and merry Christmas to the team that makes this possible for us all to enjoy!

The scavenger hunts are in such stark contrast to the times when the Christmas gift was a way of thanking people for purchasing premium. I'm not in any way intending to bash the event itself, it seems well thought-out and fun for those that want to scavenge, I just prefer to decide how I spend my premium time. I'm sure many players will absolutely love the event, but personally I wish there was a way to get the gifts without participating.

We need to find actual wild deer and feed it bell-modified veggie-bell or bell-veggie, whichever is the correct term.. but.. does this deer go to "hell" or remains as it was and we can feed same deer with more bell-infused veggies?

Vanishing deers will greatly turn this into a hell of a mission to find such wild, pretty finite number of deers.

I kinda dread having to hunt for Deers just for one character, but my mind will drive me nuts if I don't do it for my Priests as well, so either way this already feels stressy to me. 😕 

I really hope there will be an abundance of Deers for the Event, so it wont take me a entire day to complete just for one character.

On my recent hunting runs truhout NorthEastern Xanadu (past month pretty much), I maybe chanced to glimpse one deer before it ran off, shy fellows.

 

Regardless, thanks for the work you guys put into these Events, it is always the most enjoyable time. ❤️

If we are looking for the reindeer to gather prizes, what is the purpose of the gears, valves and pipes from last year then?  I'm just curious if those are being added as just more fun decoration items or if they will have a "redeeming" value for prizes like they did last year.

 

It sounds interesting, to say the least!  Back out for scavenging, I guess.

i would also like treasure hunting to be made fair on xanadu. and having rifts closer also... just saying as much as i sympathize with you devs never listen to the problems that are uniquely with the size of xanadu instead we are told to move servers to solve those issues. Why should they listen to the issues you brought up? Would be nice if they adjusted stuff like that but i think ultimately and sadly its up to us.

The reindeer missing isn't the only issue.. seems like updating takes about 30 minutes and counting, keeps stopping at 87.1% so I download it over and over and over and over... and over.

 

Also, the xmas stuff looks great good job... that being said... just get rid of LAVA. seriously the time that is spent nerfing the snot out of it. I took power as I thought that lava might be good for something, now it's basically useless. How about if you're going to pound the life and soul out of something that you actually ADD something to it? It seems like over and over Wurm slowly becomes more and more narrow and less and less special. But you know, the babies that cry the most perhaps get more milk.

 

Rebalance all the meditation and spells and sorcery, don't just pick on the ones the crybabies are whining about. Make them all unique and useful not just for PVP or PVE but for both... ADD in a bit of mystery/magic. STOP just taking old mechanics and nerfing them into obscurity. ( I mean I guess it's easier to do that than to actually code something that works).

 

1) those bloody meat piles. some mobs have dead models many still don't. The community would likely do this for free.

2) the cart/horses are always wonky going up hills. that is so easy to fix, you know rotation = angle of slope on the ground or something.

3) wood mechanics could use some love, been saying it for 15 years maybe. Some woods have characteristics (why not make this more like metals) all wood needs to be the same wood type, no more magic last bit magically makes it cedar. And  give each wood a bonus to action or something. metals have all this so should wood. 

4) why not do something with water... I mean you know water takes up 20 - 30% of the maps, maybe more. Why not have special uniques that are only in the water? Sea serpent, whale, sharks, they dont' give anything cool. DO something with the water.

5) winter always too short (shhhh crybabies will cry) could do so much here, a) have winter mobs spawn b) hot chocolate could warm you up, c) well hey what about sleighs get a move bonus in winter and carts wagons get slower. d) hey what about cold weather variants of armour, this would add a whole new industry mating armour and cloth/fur makers.

6) make your own wish here.

 

Okay I guess I 'll check to see if the update is done yet so I can complain in chat.

Does the Christmas event extend to Guidance with the characters there able to benefit?

There are some deer on Guidance, but not very many.
