Let's be honest here. Stealing as a grind is still busted and lockpicking is still such a rare skill I doubt this situation is ever really going to be common. I wouldn't be shocked if the devs already have a solution to this and just didn't include it. I'd imagine maybe the camp despawns once they "wake up" and the camp respawns in the world a little bit faster than if it was cleared via killing them all.

It was very very old. As for the ToS what we did back then. Was trade the writ thus putting you on the writ as owner.  This saved so many support tickets back then. :) Help i lost my key come change my lock GM haha I felt the pain. I think they changed it and said find some one that can pick it for you. But that going back a long time. Hard to remember.  

 

But long story short. At one time there was a use for it in the community.

I'm referring mostly to posts that are inserting confusion with rules and such. But if you have lockpicking and somehow, stealing skill, you likely can already do combat. What makes you think they'll beeline for possibly waiting for nightfall, and then slow crawling through a camp with a weird stealth system and then picking a lock and then try to creep out again? The rules are fairly clear that lockpicking is a PvP mechanic, which was correct until now, I suppose. Now they're adding a reason for it on PvE, the reasonable approach would be to point out the rule wording being weird and expecting them to rewrite it to be clear with this new content.

We're getting a use for two of the skills that were absolutely worthless on PvE. What's the actual issue here? If you don't have the skill, you can grind it, making content purely for skills you'll already have gives it a much worse shelf life.

Don't want to grind the two skills? They have a solution for that and it's combat.

If it's a loot concern, let's be honest, we'll likely see the same flaw treasure maps have where the unique loot isn't changed up over time and the pool of new stuff isn't big enough, and over the weeks to months you'll see it all hit the market and the price getting lower and lower.

Because you're seeing and making the content a combat only encounter. And that's fine, but why are we shunning a high risk for the same reward tactic that gives players a more diverse way to engage with the content? This is already probably the closest we've got to genuinely emergent gameplay in Wurm.

Let the devs experiment and do something weird with the content. Bugs and issues are old hat now, give me the content that's a bit weird and wonderful because it tries something new and ambitious. If it doesn't work out, ultimately I'm sure they can nuke the ability to open the chest before the camp is cleared.

I am performing mental gymnastics understanding anyone's rationale that would speak against this update. Content is more than just combat too.

 

Not only can we smash our way into a goblin camp but we can also SNEAK? New, fun, interesting seems to me. Time for the siege towers to come out personally. I hope some kind of alliance or trading can be performed as well.

 

The Wurm world might finally become alive. I feel it with each update. Holy sites, goblin camps, and more to come I'm sure.

 

I adore the direction the development team has been going recently. Keep up the good work lads.

Will walls, floors and roofs be getting the same freshen up as ceilings so they show wood type?

On the client side, we have been focused on improving performance. Some of the performance fixes will go into the client this week already, this time focused on optimizing shadow rendering. We are also nearly ready to upgrade the Java version that the client uses to Java 21. This has taken us a very long time, as we had issues acquiring a code signing certificate, due to a lot of hassle around how strict that is, requiring back-and-forth physical mail between CCAB and the certificate authority. 

 

With the code signing certificate in place, we can now freely update the game’s launcher again, as otherwise some of the more strict antivirus software could have tagged the launcher falsely, as was the case when we first released the current launcher a few years back.

 

That enables us to update the launcher code to support the new Java version. Provided testing shows no issues, we intend to release the upgrade in December. To temper expectations though, while it will help us with client stuttering and possibly certain rare crashes, it hasn’t shown to be significantly more performant for the Wurm client in general.

love the ceiling tile stuff so much if you do same with walls that be so cool I was working on a mod years ago to do walls but do to RL work I had to drop moding an do RL stuff. Did a video long time ago if you can give it a look dev team you see it would be worth weight in gold.
