Posted September 10 (edited) To create, link a personal merchant to one or more nearby containers or BSB/FSB. You can "Set Buy Price" on any object in the linked containers, and the personal merchant will buy more of that item and place it into that same container. (Because of this, you cannot buy an item you don't have) Items sold to personal merchants must be of the same material, and QL must be equal or better (including enchants) - On a BSB/FSB, the quality lock feature is used instead Personal merchant will stop buying when he has no room in the container to put his purchased item, or runs out of silver You can use subcontainers to only purchase a limited volume of goods. (Put the reference object in a backpack inside a linked cupboard to only buy a backpack's worth) If an item could be sold to multiple linked containers, the one that gives the best price will be used Items of separate rarity are considered separate items. Separate materials are also considered separate items. Cooked food items must give the same affinity to be considered the same. The merchant enforces that the buy price must be at least 1i per 10QL (it will not allow lower prices than selling to the token) Whenever a personal merchant sells an item, if that item is unenchanted, he will replenish his inventory from a linked container with the next lowest QL - If selling containers themselves, containers must be empty to be considered replenishable. In this way, the same personal merchant can buy and sell the same item at a spread until there are no more items of a lower QL than the item presently offered for sale The merchant enforces that the sell price of any item must be at least 10% greater than the merchant would buy that item for (it will not trade at a loss) The inventory of merchants linked to a larder will benefit from the larder's decay reduction. You can right click any item and use "Get Price" to see the name, quadrant and offered price of the merchants on that server that are buying it, and if they are near a mailbox. If the merchant is within 10 tiles of an appropriately enchanted mailbox, you can sell items via the post at any other mailbox, and receive the silver immediately minus postage. (Therefore, the item must be sold for more than postage. Transit times still apply.) Edited September 10 by OGK

You can, but this allows the merchant to sell them one item at a time, the containers are effectively acting as an extension of the merchant's inventory. And of course, the linked containers would also be the place where merchants would put items that they buy from visiting characters.
