Wurm Website Community page problems

Recommended Posts

I visited the Wurm Website today and saw that on the Community page there were a few problems.

First: The Wurm TV Box is Black with nothing inside it.  On the side is some text that says "Stream Service Offline"

This is what it looks like:

If you hover over the black box it says "Watch on twitch"  - If you click on that it takes you to a Twitch page where it says that the content is Unavailable:

This does not give a good impression to new and old players alike. I feel.

Maybe if more people join the Wurm Partnership Program, this would be a good place to feature their content as a playlist or even something that auto rotates through the content.  If we stick with Twitch on that page then getting some Twitch Wurm Streamers content on there would be great! ?  You can even set it up to feature a live feed of a Twitch streamer and when the live feed ends or is not live, you can switch back to the normal set of videos and vice versa.

Second: Down the bottom of the page, the Tiktok videos have a double or copy/clone:

I understand your view but what you're describing here isn't an issue that can be fixed Wurm side.

Well, it can but isn't likely at all currently. Let me explain....

The link button to the right works fine because that just takes you to the Wurm Official channel on Twitch. With the "Watch on Twitch" option you're instead requesting to watch a specific past stream from the channel, which cannot happen because the VoDs no longer exist, if they ever did in the first place.

Two ways to fix this:

  1. Streams start to happen again. Army said he wouldn't do them and he's left the role. Very unlikely.
  2. The idea that it instead displays a stream live from the category. If there's nobody currently active, it instead displays some other screen to say nobody is live. Might not even be possible to do!

You're right in how it looks, but it's just not how it seems at a glance.

I cannot explain the TikTok however. The webpage is not up to date, and the video it's repeating hasn't even been posted twice either.

Yeah, it probably won't be fixed anytime soon with how it is back end content creation or sorting out new Streaming partnerships.

I remembered how on some steam game listings, they would sometimes have a live feed of someone playing the game up top of the page.  I asked ChatGPT about if you could have a live feed on the web page from Twitch along with non live videos as well.  It said that you can have a live feed on the page but also using javascript it can check if there is a live twitch feed or not (Based on a timer checking system).  If not then it can show a video you select or even a playlist.  You can even select which channels to get the live feed from.

Then again by the data I collected last night about the website, it seems hardly anyone ever even goes onto the Community page anyway......  Maybe setting it up on Steam like other Steam games would be better perhaps ~

I just remembered about that community screenshot area that was meant to be on the website.  I wonder if that is still in the works...
