My First Experience with Wurm (SO FAR)

Recommended Posts

Hello friends! My name is Groxo, aka Martelaum in-game. Nice to meet you!

As you may have noticed because my nickname contains "UM" at the end, I'm one of the Brazilians who joined the game thanks to ProfessorLih, an MMORPG gaming YouTuber. When I saw his video I was curious to understand why this game was considered "Ultimate MMORPG Sandbox" and wow, I was impressed.

Even though the game's graphics are dated and have very basic animations, the game is COMPLETELY dense when it comes to creativity and objectives. It is notable that the game has a slow progression and requires a certain amount of effort. I feel like the only thing that disappoints me about the game would be the combat, which requires almost the same skills needed to remove a car engine by hand.

Since then my goal in the game has not been to rush and become the best at something, but rather to enjoy the process and try to understand the game with it.

I've currently played 80 hours of the game and all I can think about is him. It's a little sad to know that this game isn't that popular, but at the same time curious because the few people who play it seem to be very united.

That being said, I would like to thank the Brazilian community for embracing us in the game and in the community, this strengthens us and motivates us to continue our projects and go further.

And you, what's your story? Do you have any tips for beginners? (Like me xD)

Yeah, it's a great game. Can play it however you want, and can play it differently every day if you'd like. Like you point out, some aspects are a bit clunky or underwhelming, but the depth of the game and freedom to shape the world as you like more than make up for that. The learning curve is very steep, and things are so slow in the beginning, but if you stick with it, that same house that took you 3-4 days to make you'll be able to make in a couple hours (including making all the mats).

As I'm sure you know and has been pointed out, the wiki and CA Help are invaluable in helping you navigate the game, plus advice and help from players in your alliance or server can make the game easier too. Keep at it, it's very rewarding as you continue to accomplish things and set new goals. Just remember that with most games if you put 80 hours into it you'd already be done with the game, but here, you've barely started. Happy Wurming :)

Question do you brasilians think you'll make your way to defiance? (Player vs player server.)

@AtndyThere’s a good chance we’ll head to the PvP server as well. It might even be our final incursion after the gladiator duel tournament project in the desert. Brazilians are very competitive and passionate when they find something they love—sometimes to the point of it becoming intense fanaticism.

Welcom to Wurm!

Happy to see that our newcomers enjoy the game. And yes this really is a tight knit community. I myself have been around for 5-6 years now I believe. Never stuck to a game as long as to Wurm.

As for tips for new players....
Take your time, don't rush things - pretty much the most  important thing there is.
Anything else you'll figure out along the way. The community is super helpful so you can really ask away as much as you need. :)

Hope you keep enjoying the game. Eventually I'll have to take a peek at what's happening on Harmony. I've seen pics, but I can tell those only tell a tiny bit of the story. :)

As a sandbox in terms of gameplay this game has everything - travel, horses, wagons, ships, free skill system, building, tunnels, terraforming, building in caves, crafting everything. Don't know of anything like this.

Anyways, glad you found it :) welcome!

This is a very old image (2012!) but it's always relevant for new players. ?

Does car engine remove itself if you stare it very long time? ;)
