Item dropped while terraforming disappeared

Recommended Posts

Summary:

I dropped sand to raise some tiles and by accident dropped a staff and padlocks. The staff and one of two padlocks disappeared and could not be found in game.

I stood in the NE corner of a tile close to tile border. Dropping sand and letting it flow down to create 40 slope. Slopes are steep there so sand is flowing a few tiles. I dragged sand from crate and used drop keybind over and over again. By accident I dropped 8 lettuce seeds, two large padlocks and a silver staff by accident. After dropping more sand I wanted to pickup the items but 1 padlock and the silver staff were missing. I relogged, tried with low tile details graphics setting and dropped a few items (forming a pile) on the tiles around but could not find the items.

I opened a ticked and the GM looking at it could not find it at the tile or the ones surrounding it too. With the details I remembered about the staff, some magic and lot of hamsters hurt the GM was able to recover the staff.

Please do a bug report on the forums for this as the item technically was on that tile where you dropped it - but it was "invisible" and should not have been.

The game felt slightly laggy at that time. No huge delay but like a few 100ms. Barely noticeable.

The dirt was flowing down the slopes changing a few tiles.

The items left were split between two tiles. Some on the tile I was standing on and some on the tile in front of me(east).

Tile of the incident is in the NE corner of my deed "Arsay" on Cadence. A empty dyed green large crate marks the tile for now.

I guess there is still a invisible large padlock on this tile.

Thanks for the detail in this report; we've had some similar reports of items missing from piles recently. I did have a couple other questions if you know the answers:

1) After you dropped the items, did you look into the pile to see if they were all there? It would be good to know if they went "missing" immediately after being dropped, or after you tried picking them up.

2) How did you pick up the items? For example, did you right-click and click "take" on the pile object, or did you open the pile and "take" them from the pile window, or something else?

I understand if you don't remember some of these things, but the more information we have, the better.

there wasn't really a pile. the dirt was dropped on ground to raise the tile. After dropping the rest of dirt I looked around for the staff and did not see it. iirc there was a single padlock on "my" tile right at my feed. probably picked that up with default keybind. And there was a pile of seeds on the tile in front of me. I think I opened this one and dragged them to inventory.
