New PC - Can't play on higher than medium settings

Recommended Posts

Hi! Just built this PC - all drivers updated/bios etc.

RX 6950 XT GPU

Ryzen 9 7900X 12-Core Processor (4.70 GHz)

64 GB RAM(x232GB DD5-6000)

Windows 10 Pro

Any time I try to launch the game after selecting maximum or high setting default my game will go unresponsive until I close it out. Any ideas? This rig should be able to rip this game.

This CPU has a GPU built in. Make sure Wurm is trying to run on the 6950, and not on the internal GPU.

Try turning off the UI FPS limit (which is set to 30).

My sons computer is doing the same thing. Everytime he loads the game it goes unresponsive and just crashes. We gave up on it which is sad because he really wants to play with me and his mother,

I doubt the onboard GPU would get 100 FPS - but is there a way to check? I don't see an option to choose integrated vs dedicated.

Has he tried playing on lower settings? All my settings are fresh install defaults and I just had to play on medium(no custom settings) and it works at 100 FPS(with my setup).

you should have a Console.<CHARACTER-NAME>.log file in your wurm directory, open it and look for "=== OpenGL information ===" below the line you should see which video is used;

it's good question why is there no selection in the launcher for VGA or dev response and guides how to properly click-click switch amd/nvidia main video to skip this kind of issues,

in case of finding this happens (internal UHD or w/e intel cpu video or mobo video was used)to popup from the launcher the guide

Indeed, using Dedicated Graphics Card. Even disabled the intergrated via device manager. Still can't launch the game with higher than medium settings I guess I can make custom settings and boost everything. That seemed to work.

really dumb question but... it's a must.. have you installed/upgraded your drivers?

AMD had their OpenGL drivers buffed in the past 1-3 years... idk when it happened but that was big for the fps in minecraft/wurm/etc..

Try to run the game in low memory mode or some of the other modes.. also try to run the game by playing around the settings from laucher -> Compability -> see if switching some or all from Core to Extension lets you play?

just as test.. if you are able to make it start and be playable.. we might be able to narrow the issue
