Steam client update breaks Wurm server connection

The Steam client updated earlier and now a connection to the Wurm server can no longer be establish.

Happens under Win 10 and Linux.

What gives?

Wurm crashed.

Seems I'm having the same problem of connecting to the server, yet it says the servers are online.

Did a file integrity and Win update no problems there on my side.

I also cannot log in. I get on Wurm through steam. It's sad. I finally have 10 hours free to play on wurm and wurm is down. Is there a way to get the attention of mods? I'd like to know updates on the situation.

Team is aware of the situation. No ETA or reason known right now. Note that the native client connects fine. Situation is limited to players connecting via Steam.

While my alts can remain connected to steam, this issue caught my main while using the portal from Harmony to defiance, I got stuck "in-between", tried to relog but  can't login since then.

I managed to log in, it may be fixed for the time being

I'm back in.

Did a pc shut down and unplugged my modem for a few mins.

I don't know what that was about?

This was an issue with the Steam authentication service misbehaving, and appears to have resolved itself. If you still have issues logging in, please try restarting steam.

This is becoming real annoying, the only "solution" is to stay logged in or endure steam's malfunctioning
