Posted January 7, 2023 (edited) There was recent rift by our deed as well as right by some neighbors that was not kind to the local tundra ecosystem - as you may know tundra tiles are very special and difficult to recreate on a wide scale (yes, I am aware of ice pillar on grass and transmutation of moss). Somebody took it upon themselves to pack a big "L" shape to delineate where people would still get rift points, destroying many tundra tiles in the process. Posted January 7, 2023 Tundra regrowth spread was increased way back, and as you said, transmutation liquids exist. It's not as world ending damage as you might think
Posted January 8, 2023 Tundras take months to regrow. They only spread to dirt tiles. That means carefully tending and cultivating grass to dirt for months. The amount of transmutation liquid needed for 100+ tiles off-deed is insane. We are talking about 6 months worth of work to repair the damage at least and then what if it happens yet again?
Posted January 8, 2023 this costs a lot of trans liquid on or offdeed, add time and resources to that, tundra is oddly high cost to create and maintain if somebody decides to grab a shovel and cultivate or pack tiles
Posted January 8, 2023 Much like coastal deeds, some players deed near the tundra for that sole purpose. Even if tundra regrowth spread has been increased and transmutation liquid exists, it still takes an insane lot of time to prepare everything needed to undo the damage (time that could be enjoyed doing other fantastic Wurm things). Yes, maybe not quite "world ending" but I'm sure nobody wants to wake up to their local backyard tundra in this state and have to walk the path to repair it.
