Align to compass direction

We can build these nice straight roads and tunnels anywhere on the map. But when you use them, you never quite get lined up and have to constantly correct your direction to keep from running off the road or into walls. Is it possible to make a mod where a hotkey can align you, your mount, cart, wagon or boat to the closest of the 8 compass directions? N, S, E, W, NE, NW, SE and SW

This is available in Wurm Online by holding down the 'X' (autorun) key. It's been around for a couple years.

Holding down the X key enables autorun, but doesn't align you to a precise compass direction.  You can autorun right off the road because of this, which creates the need for the mod that the OP is talking about.

well, then it's different in WU, not surprisingly. X in Wurm is autorun, holding the X though snaps you to the closest cardinal point on the compass, N, S, E, W, NW, NE, SW, SE

Holding X on Wurm Unlimited does a stuttering starting/stopping motion as you turn autorun on and off.
