This seems an extreme map. Ideally in my opinion, players gain experience and move away from template kingdoms. Eventually multiple PMKs are crammed into less than 1/3 of the landmass? Seems it should be the reverse.

I agreed with not having towers within like 50 tiles of starter, this is a little much though, it restricts so many core areas of the map

The restrictions you have created in this roadmap won't make PMK's worth it, why pay 100 silver to force restriction's upon yourself?

I think Puks map is a bit more Fair to both groups.  Middle zone PoK limitation just gives heavy favoritism to template kingdoms.  With her change template kingdoms still get a foothold on the mainland.  PMKs still get access to WL and BL.   Seems a bit more rounded

I would find a way to incorporate the other islands into the PMK zone.  In the event, a smaller group of people PMK but want to live in isolation.

The PMK zone is a completely wacky and arbitrary choice, but I don't object to default kingdoms having a sort of semi-protected area beyond the starter zone where PMKs cannot expand their own influence. That should be defined more as a radius from the starter area than as a square or straight line. 

 

If you want to keep base kingdoms viable then you need to look more seriously at how the rulers are chosen. Random selection by an NPC that anyone can approach makes them inferior to PMKs and screws over kingdoms when an inexperienced character or an alt gets it. The ruler of a default kingdom being able to freely pass on the crown or lose it in a martial challenge seems sensible to me - the NPC should only get involved if the previous ruler abdicated/quit without designating an heir.

Hrm the land zone restrictions on pmks seems wonky imho.

 

Would it not be more effective to work on why people prefer pmks over the template kds, especially in managing said kd.

 

If using a template kd was just as viable as using a pmk, perhaps there would be no need for restricting pmks to specific zones.

I think that default kingdoms will be less of the population after the update so why populate 2/3 of the map with less activity?

PMK area In all quads except Top Left, Top Right, Middle Bottom feels more than adequate for a safe zone for each kingdom while providing ample space for PMKS.

Excellent few things needed though

 

Lights

- either make them easier to bash or make them permanent in location with a much bigger no-build zone for artifact balancing. Everyone obv just wants to sit at the WL with all the good artifacts free.

 

Map

- puks map looks better yes

 

Standard kingdom kings

- So it won't just be random alts: possibly require 5 votes to try and significantly improve the chance of getting it

- Make the challenging/removing king process much faster

Those 5 votes should have to come from accounts that also pass a skill check, not just any premium account. One of those skills should be fight skill so accounts who've recently crossed from PvE but are otherwise good are ineligible to back a candidate.

 

With regards to the altars, I've long figured that the Altar of Three should be divided up into individual great altars. Then a kingdom could be near Fo's sanctuary but not Magranon's or Vynora's. This would coincide very well with the Holy Sites update expected in February and would reduce the perceived necessity to camp near the Whitelight.

could we get character transfers from sfi as well at least. i know like 40 people from sfi that would love to play on defiance as well but wont regrind, understandably

We should, and if this is such a problem for people on NFI then you could make it so a character native to SFI can't subsequently transfer to NFI from Defiance.

There's a lot of people coming back who will grind who would probably quit if the lazy SFI'ers on their bought accounts came over significantly raising the bar for PVP.

lets go with your scenario and pretend that accounts coming from sfi would raise the bar or whatever even though they are at every statistical disadvantage for grinding compared to defiance/nfi. if accounts that were more developed made that much of a difference why is your 90 body strength toon sitting on the starter island unable to be played on defiance?

What do you think the accounts over in BL look like?

 

I'm guessing this has more to do with you spending god knows how many thousands of euros on your SFI character than anything else lol
