Polished wood

Recommended Posts

Wood polish may be crafted by combining beeswax with any fruit juice.

Wood polish may be applied to all wooden objects, subject to technical limitations to be determined. To be clear, if it's possible, I would like the following types of objects to be polishable:

  • walls and floors
  • tables, chairs, and other furniture items
  • vehicles that can be painted (but note that the amount of polish / time required may be prohibitively large)
  • weapon/tool shafts/handles

Effects of polishing:

  1. the surface becomes significantly shinier
  2. if painted, the colour becomes slightly richer (an effect that can be calculated but at its simplest would move the RGB values away from 127,127,127)
  3. slightly reduced decay

+1

 Love that Idea!

Maybe unpolished things gettin worn out graphically over time and you need to repolish it.

Maybe take a step farther, But you could Use a similar action with the Polish, to preserve things every so often you would need to refresh the polish. Giving a loose ability to do taxidermy as long as the beeswax remains untouched it will decay slower. there for you are able to keep the body of the Champion Troll around a-lot longer then normal. +1 for the base Idea

+1  Like this idea, it would give items a much more finished look.

I like the idea, but should it not just be oils instead like olive oil.

+1 for idea in general

We can already add tar to floor boards for lessened decay and a different look.

Would be interesting for this concept to apply to more wooden things!

+1 Shiny carts and tables plus another use for wax works for me. The wood tables in particular are very dull looking and I'd love to be able to shine them up.

I am curious how this shiny effect would be visually different from the rare, supreme, fantastic, glow often referred to as shiny.

Are we thinking a glossier texture that is a little less flat\grey?

The idea has appeal I am just thinking about implementation.

I also like the mention of oils, perhaps oils and the original bees wax concept both could be used, depending on the objects.

Assuming it can be implemented.

Good idea, I would like to be able to polish wooden thigs to make it look better. Just don't implement hoovering and cleaning, I have enough of that to do in real life 😆

Can even have it be more complex with items becoming "polished" akin to rarity. Perhaps even a toggled state when improved upon, going back to unpolished.

Stone can be polished too; though, sometimes with different tools.

Theres even an entire Asian artform of polishing dirt by constantly rolling it around with your hands, transferring bodily oils.

Yup, despite the age old western saying... you really can polish ######.
