New type of arrows: fire arrows

These arrows would work like FA arrows we have now but everyone with decent enough fletching skill would be able to create them.

They would be either created like torches but instead of using a shaft we would use an arrow on tar to create unfinished fire arrow, then add moss to finish it. QL of arrow would determine it's fire power. However, this might make it too easy to create FA arrow, so I thought of another way to get this done: fire arrow heads. The mothod would be the same - arrow head on tar, then moss to create it. But to rise the power of FA you'd have to imp the head before assembling the arrow. On the other hand wasting a lot of time to imp heads and then even more time to imp arrows would suck and actualy make no difference compared to enchanting with FA. To ease it up, let us make high QL fire arrow heads instantly, like it is with mallets, files or carving knives.

PS: Some caltulations to show you how much time it takes to create FA arrows nowadays:

FA takes 45 favor. You must wait 50.67 minutes to gain that (from 0 to 45). 50.67 x 41 = 2077,47 minutes =~ 34,5h...

At least make it that FA on arrows takes twice less favor. Otherwais FA arrows simply ain't worth the damn effort :(

it can be fun if such arrows will have splash damage and you would be able to hit several players at one time :)

Fire arrows should be especially effective for destroying wooden items - catapults, wooden buildings, etc.

You mean like to actually be able to fire at walls and items, they actually blocking the arrow's trajectory?? In my Wurm Online? You-re mad...

Also nice idea but they should mainly be intended for destroying wooden structures or even ships... if a mechanic for this will be actully created.

Make it so you have to put a rag on the arrow, and put it in the camp fire for 10seconds and bam, your fire arrow... make rags usefull instead of just healing lol

+1 Like the idea of instead of enchanting loads of arrows for FA instead making arrows slightly harder to make but come with the same power as a 50FA enchanted arrow would, and! they can be shot at boats and catapults to do damage, really nice idea!

Aye fire arrows would be awesome especially visible at night.

Id go more for moss + tar = fire arrowheads (using firemaking skill). Then arrow shaft + fire arrowhead = fire arrow (fletching).

Then theres the whole deal of creating fireable projectiles for siege weapons.

+1, but only if you add the ability to make pitch pits so you can shoot a flaming arrow to ignite pitch soaked tiles.

I don't think this change would have the intended effect, it would simply make regular arrows useless on wild and everyone would be rolling around with these, adding even more frustration when someone dies and loses a quiver of arrows.

I'll repeat what I've always said in regards to changes on wild; there is no such thing as 'nice' - there is only absolutely required or entirely useless.

Easy enough to try balancing... for example hunting arrows and war arrows have differing advantages and disadvantages.

One possibility offhand would be to make fire arrows less accurate than war arrows on people. Another would be making it easier to dodge/block a more visible projectile. Let alone giving away the archer's position with visible fire.

However, fire arrows still provide extra dmg against structures and the like. Then theres extra affect to pets. Fire has a pretty effective psychological impact.

EDIT: Course enchanting arrows is more effective than using plain arrows. However one does not always see such used. Fire arrows would also require extra resources that not everyone has access to. The OP does not by any means render war arrows ineffective.

should set people with cotton armor alight.

sometimes when drawing the bow will get extra damage and you will get burnt.

if the arrow lands on a tar tile all tar tiles near it should set a light for a bit.

deals cuts, holes and burns.

has a chance to do critical hits to wooden items.

the arrow takes damage while lit.

less accurate.
