Unbalanced skillgain , soul depth vs soul strength

Recommended Posts

1 food affinity for soul strength 1 for animal taming  , sleep bonus activated , roughly 1 hour of animal taming.

gained Soul Affinity, gained  Nature and animal taming affinity.

I think Soul strength gain should been higher than the Soul depth gain

Given the difference in skills, this could be a myriad of reasons.

You're likely doing higher difficulty actions for taming, meaning your tickrate at 40ish skill is lower than the tickrate at 67 skill.

Venerable Hell horse is used to tame on , not sure of their diffulty, though. More to easy in fact, for me.

Difficulty of hellies are quite high.

If you want to try to imagine how this matters, then you'd get more skill gain from grinding taming on hellies at 67 taming skill than you would at 44 taming.

Same thing for characteristics.

As far as I'm concerned, this is looking like it's working as intended to me.

For characteristic skillgain, you generally want to do actions that are about 20 difficulty points under your skill (Give or take about 10 still gives good skill. Beyond 10, skillgain starts to drop off drastically).

From my calculations, taming a hell horse is roughly 80 difficulty, or around 75 if it is already tamed. A venerable one is even more difficult. This is FAR higher than your optimal value for either Soul Strength or Soul Depth, which would be around 24 and 48, respectively. Given how far from optimal this is, it is not terribly surprising that you've gained more Soul Depth than you have Strength. I would recommend trying something far lower difficulty (A venerable Ram that's already tamed would be almost perfect for Soul Strength).

I guess i did a think tank , focused on the taming skill gain not soul strength skill gain.

Here is the results with a adolescent ram.

So in the second test, you got like 6-7x the amount of strength as depth. Compared to the nearly the same gains in both on hellies.

Yup, looks indeed like it's working as intended.
